The Mugbearer Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 (edited) Okay, here's something I've been working for a few weeks ago. I am really big fan of Hero Factory 1.0 designs. More over, I never considered the new Ultrabuild system aesthetically good, although it was my dream to combine Ultrabuild poseability and 1.0 design. I don't think I am the only one here, and it is really good to know. Also my LDD models are always were kinda realistic - I am certain that about 70% of my models will be really solid and sturdy in real. So my other goal while making those custom bodies was to create something that I can build in real life someday. Hero Factory Reloaded - full custom body by The Mugbearer, on Flickr There they are, my custom Heroes. The left one is for female characters like Natalie Breez and the left one is for male. The legs and body are compatible with v1.0 armor (the photo represents only legs because the model was made a few years ago). As you can see, the frame is quite poseable. Also, it's pretty easy to modify. The main feature of the frame is something that adds more lore basis: a Quaza Core right under the Hero Core. Stormer 1.7 by The Mugbearer, on Flickr Ah, Preston Stormer. He was the first one to get the new body. It was mostly because I found his helmet after latest LDD update and was really glad. I've added a Bionicle Stars foot and think that it fits well here. Breez 1.7 by The Mugbearer, on Flickr Natalie Breez was first Hero I made with female body. Bulk 1.7 by The Mugbearer, on Flickr Duncan Bulk with new body that is covered with armor. Laser minigun was inspired by X-Com: Enemy Unknown. Rocka 1.7 by The Mugbearer, on Flickr Daniel Rocka ready to drop the hammer! Furno 1.7 by The Mugbearer, on Flickr It was always with my Furno models that I add a weapon holder on his back. I like it that way. Evo 1.7 by The Mugbearer, on FlickrI already made more, but will upload them later. Surge 1.7 by The Mugbearer, on Flickr Nex 1.7 by The Mugbearer, on Flickr Stringer 1.7 by The Mugbearer, on Flickr C&C are much appreciated, as always. Get the file of the frame. Chro Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 (edited) Nice build! I like how it's close enough to pass for a 1.0 Hero body while still being quite obviously improved in terms of flexibility (both of the MOC itself and opportunity for customization). I do think I remember seeing these on flickr a while ago. Edited May 15, 2013 by Chro Quote
WARHEAD Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 These guys are really neat, I think you've achieved what you were going for completely. Also, that Bulk and his weapon are really something, great job on that. Quote
The Mugbearer Posted May 15, 2013 Author Posted May 15, 2013 Thanks guys! I've added two more Heroes! Quote
Chro Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I like Rocka's hammer, nice use of those hoof-like feet. (And yeah, let's just go ahead and call him Daniel...) :P Quote
The Mugbearer Posted May 15, 2013 Author Posted May 15, 2013 (And yeah, let's just go ahead and call him Daniel...) :P I think it's his official name. Isn't it? o_O Quote
Chro Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 No, it wasn't official. It was put in the credits of one of the TV episodes by mistake, since it was the most popular fan name. (Unless it's since been directly canonized and I didn't know it.) Quote
pocketmego Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 (edited) Great designs and I dig that hammer. You have a brilliantly technical mind. Edited May 15, 2013 by pocketmego Quote
Cahillrebel Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I like them too. The only minor complaint I have is how the leg armor is connected. Seems to far out and looks like it doesn't cover the feet very well like the originals did. Again, minor complaint. Aside from that they look fine and more improved than ever. Quote

Those legs were made after real prototype which I made as close to original legs as it could be with these parts. Quote
DraikNova Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 One typo: you wrote "male characters like Natalie Breez". Anyway, while the build looks very strange when unarmored, I've got to say that Rocka and Bulk in particular look great. Quote
The Mugbearer Posted May 20, 2013 Author Posted May 20, 2013 Two more Heroes reporting for duty! Quote
Chro Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 (edited) Ergh... seeing the rendered version of a transparent purple head (not sure what the correct color term is) makes me want an actual one all the more. Edited May 20, 2013 by Chro Quote
MakutaNocturn Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 That's the first HF Moc on this site which I like ;P Great job and idea. Quote
Aanchir Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Hmmm, various thoughts: I'm very interested in the custom skeleton. I'm a bit worried the leg armor might look unnatural with the legs in different poses, though. You've done a great job with proportions. I'm a bit puzzled with the colors you used for Evo, though. Why Flame Yellowish Orange, Bright Reddish Violet, and Tr. Medium Reddish Violet? I can see you changed a few colors on the others, but on Evo there's hardly a color you left alone. My instinct would have been to use Bright Yellow, Medium Lilac, and Tr. Bright Bluish Violet. Also, I have a suggestion. Instead of the 3M Technic beams used on the feet of Evo and Surge, which feel very blocky and break up the streamlining of the feet, why not use a part that tapers towards the center like 47973 or 47994? Both of these exist in black, though of course you haven't constrained yourself to using only actual parts that exist in real life so you could color them to match the feet if you really wanted to. It might hinder posability ever so slightly, but I don't think it'd make a tremendous impact. Quote
The Mugbearer Posted May 20, 2013 Author Posted May 20, 2013 (edited) Aanchir, all those official color names confuse me very much. Maybe you could show me somehow? I can give you an LXF. Also, I have no idea how to change legs without sacrificing their look. Anyway, thank you for another detailed review, I am always happy to see you coming by. Edited May 20, 2013 by -N13OS- Quote
DraikNova Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 While I quite like Surge, using pink on Evo looks kind of strange. The basic yellow seems fine though. Quote
The Mugbearer Posted May 20, 2013 Author Posted May 20, 2013 DraikNova, actually it's not pink, although it might be because of your monitor. =) Quote

The purple you used is what Bricklink calls Magenta — the same color as the roof in this set. The yellow you used is what Bricklink calls Bright Light Orange (and what BIONICLE fans call Keetorange). In sets, Evo traditionally uses classic yellow (24 Bright Yellow) and dark purple (268 Medium Lilac). And yeah, I understand that the legs are kind of central to this design. I'm not asking you to change them; I'm just wondering how much of a purpose the knee joint would really serve on a physical model. Quote
Leewan Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I've built this frame, with some modifications, for extra strength (couldn't resist ) : (More on brickshelf when public) Quote
The Mugbearer Posted September 4, 2013 Author Posted September 4, 2013 Hmm, good, very good! Though the legs weren't intended that way because of 1.0 leg armor, but it's ok. =) Quote
Leewan Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I know, but I lacked balljoints. ^^ My only complaint is that this frame looks a bit "flat". It's a very thin structure, so it looks a bit weird. ^^ Quote
The Mugbearer Posted September 4, 2013 Author Posted September 4, 2013 This frame was supposed to be highly customizeable. Quote
