Hello All.

Should be a simple question. And i could of found it out myself but have limited wheels at present so could not afford to damage any.

the technic pf wheels you get in the new sets the bogie wheel not the standard old 9v complete wheel.

The rubber O ring around the wheel that provides grip if they where attached to a PF motor.

Can this just be removed to decrease the grip of the wheel so i can use in on bogies and not increase the resistance and increase load on the motors.

key thing is with out effecting train running. Like will it increase derailing or the wheel wont run smooth.

I suspect the answer is yes, though you would likely have to verify if it works for your situation even if someone else has made it work to their satisfaction. A few more thoughts, the technic axle will have more friction than normal train wheels. Some folks have oiled these spots though. Another thought is if you have space, you might be able to split the axle, using two 3 long axles and thus, let the wheels on opposite tracks rotate independently around the curve. I THINK the PF wheels are effectively flat without the band, while the regular lego train wheels are tapered (in which case

A technic axle Pin (without Friction Ridges) might work too...if not too 'frictionsome'.

Anyway, back to your question...

The talented Jeramy Spurgeon has an article here that might be useful for you:

http://railbricks.co...nctions-primer/

where he seems to have some success using a toothpick.

If you do damage it, at least you know it could be replaced, and likely improved upon, from his article

Cheers,
