Jdur321 Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Hi, I'm new on the forum and I'm trying to make my current railroad 9v compatible but I'm having trouble getting the switches and crossover pieces to work. Can somebody help me with this? Thanks. Quote
Jdur321 Posted June 6, 2013 Author Posted June 6, 2013 Yea, for the mostpart, I know where to put the copper tape, but when i run a 9v train over it, it goes about an inch from where the switch lever is then stops. Quote
ScotNick Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Oh, have you made sure that the tape is connected with wire under the track? Like here, all the red tape/rails have to be connected with wire, and all the blue tape/rails have to be connected with wire in order to work. Quote
Jdur321 Posted June 7, 2013 Author Posted June 7, 2013 I didn't know there was a wire on RC switches Quote
kieran Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I didn't know there was a wire on RC switches There is not on an RC switch you need to add one, they are there on the older 9V switches Quote
Jdur321 Posted June 7, 2013 Author Posted June 7, 2013 ok, but is there any way i can get it to work without adding a wire? Quote
ScotNick Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 ok, but is there any way i can get it to work without adding a wire? At least you need wires to get electricity over the frog, but it would also be good to have the other wires too, just in case... Quote
Jdur321 Posted June 7, 2013 Author Posted June 7, 2013 ok would a thin strip of copper tape work in place of the wire? Quote
ScotNick Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 I think so, but you have to watch out that the blue and red tape is not connected (on my sketch). Quote
