Captain Nemo Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 This looks nice, but it doesn't really strike me as Kaliphlin or even Historica at all. The water is nice though (However it's not drink-able ) Quote
soccerkid6 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 So beautiful The micro-scale Japanese styled building looks perfect as does the water and use of the half boulders on the banks. Seeing all these gorgeous Kaliphlin locations make me want to do a Kaliphlin MOC Quote
SkaForHire Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 (edited) This looks nice, but it doesn't really strike me as Kaliphlin or even Historica at all. The water is nice though (However it's not drink-able ) I think in the very beginning when there were a bunch of left over medieval cultures, someone decided that they were all in Kaliphlin, hence the Mediterranean, Sub-Sahara African, New World, Middle East, Indian, and East Asian influences on mocs and culture. We actually used to have members that were completely East Asian in their story and style... who knows what happened to them, but they once existed. If another guild opens up, I think an East Asian influenced culture would be pretty cool. Great MOC Masa, I really like the stream, the rocks and the water are great! Nightstalker Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 (edited) Wait a second, why haven't I heard of this place!?!? (Apart from it being a secret) Well I guess I know where to move most of my folks. On another note, this is a spectacular build! The design is flawless, and I like the foliage and color of the river. Edited June 23, 2013 by Nightstalker Quote
Gideon Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Lovely eastern atmosphere you have created! The microscale building is wonderful, but what part is the lowest roof? Quote
Infernum Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Beautiful atmosphere! Love the use of the boulders and the bridge is great! Quote
Kayne Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Masa, as I said on Flickr.....this is great! I love the atmosphere in this, and I am totally stealing the half boulders Quote
robuko Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Really nice Masa! The pink cherry tree and the water lily at the front are superb details. The solution you came up with for the water is really effective. Must visit some day! Quote
TheLegoDr Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I agree, this doesn't come off as Kaliphlin at all. I do think an eastern Asian influence would be a neat idea though. Even with that said, this is one of the most beautiful vignettes I've seen. The boulders are used properly. The cherry blossoms are superb. I am going to need to borrow that idea for something. The bridge is fantastic. And I really like the water effect. The one thing I don't like is the blue water and clear waterfall, but then it transitions into green water at the bottom? Either way, amazing work! Quote
TenorPenny Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 My favourite. Terrific use of trans-black on green..! Quote
Ecclesiastes Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 So much to like here: The bridge, the micro but above all I think you used those rock parts really well! Quote
Kai NRG Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Fantastic job Masa, love the water and the half boulder use, as well as the forced perspective... just beautiful! Nice to see a bird in it! I agree, this doesn't come off as Kaliphlin at all. I do think an eastern Asian influence would be a neat idea though... This looks nice, but it doesn't really strike me as Kaliphlin or even Historica at all. The water is nice though (However it's not drink-able ) Actually, Kaliphlin is certainly the guild with most Asian influence and it has been depicted in the past (though not often). Quote
robuko Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Actually, Kaliphlin is certainly the guild with most Asian influence and it has been depicted in the past (though not often). Yup. Kaliphlin. Eclectic. It's what we do. Quote
Gabe Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Ohh i remember this place... it had a huge winding stair that led, well, somewhere i never was quite sure actually! I always meant to visit here if i had the chance, thanks for reminding me of it Masa. Really lovely build too, nice fp. Quote
Erynlasgalen Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Lovely vignette, every little detail you put in is great. I was just looking at one of those boulders the other day trying to figure out how someone could use them, and up this pops- they look wonderful here and fit in with the Asian theme perfectly. Quote
Mike S Posted June 25, 2013 Author Posted June 25, 2013 Really nice vignette  Thanks! This looks nice, but it doesn't really strike me as Kaliphlin or even Historica at all. The water is nice though (However it's not drink-able ) Haha! Exactly why we are doing a tour for you non-Kaliphlins. You see we have a lot more here in Kaliphlin than you non-Kaliphlins realize. The water is safe to drink for the locals as they are accustomed to the bacteria strains that reside in the valley streams. However it is recommended for outsiders to drink only from the swift moving streams in the surounding mountains. Great MOC Masa, I really like the stream, the rocks and the water are great! Thanks! Wait a second, why haven't I heard of this place!?!? (Apart from it being a secret) Well I guess I know where to move most of my folks. On another note, this is a spectacular build! The design is flawless, and I like the foliage and color of the river. Thanks! The native population here are not really fond of outsiders but every so often an outsider does join one of the valley communities. Being one of the few outsiders to have joined the Okatowan community, it took Masa a few years before the community warmed to him. Lovely eastern atmosphere you have created! The microscale building is wonderful, but what part is the lowest roof? Thanks! The part is this: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=47456 Beautiful atmosphere! Love the use of the boulders and the bridge is great! Thanks! Masa, as I said on Flickr.....this is great! I love the atmosphere in this, and I am totally stealing the half boulders Thanks! Steal away! Really nice Masa! The pink cherry tree and the water lily at the front are superb details. The solution you came up with for the water is really effective. Must visit some day! Thanks! I've had this build in the back of my mind for quite a while. When I put the umbrella together, everything just seemed to flow from there. I agree, this doesn't come off as Kaliphlin at all. Thanks! Once again, one of the main reasons for this tour was to show parts of Kaliphlin that outsiders really had no idea about. The streams of the valley do not flow nearly as fast as the mountain streams so algae and different bacteria strains tend to thrive in valley streams, hence the color difference. My favourite. Terrific use of trans-black on green..! Thanks! So much to like here: The bridge, the micro but above all I think you used those rock parts really well! Thanks! Fantastic job Masa, love the water and the half boulder use, as well as the forced perspective... just beautiful! Nice to see a bird in it! Thanks! Glad you noticed the bird. [ Ohh i remember this place... it had a huge winding stair that led, well, somewhere i never was quite sure actually! Lovely vignette, every little detail you put in is great. I was just looking at one of those boulders the other day trying to figure out how someone could use them, and up this pops- they look wonderful here and fit in with the Asian theme perfectly. Thanks! I'm not completely satisfied with the cliff work in the FP especially that 1x1 round keeps bugging me but I ran out of time. Everything else I am quite pleased with. I as well tried to find a use for those boulders for some time but when I got the idea for this build I knew I had finally found a use for them. Quote
kabel Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I really love the moc, many nice things about it. I wonder though, whether Japan might not be a little too far fetched for Kaliphlin. Quote
Maxim I Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Cool! So many things to love here!!! @Kabel: it is located in the far east of kaliphlin on a mysterious place behind the mountains :) for me it makes sense :) Quote
ZCerberus Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 What a diverse land! Good work on the Forced Perspective. Looks excellent! Quote
Str0ngbad Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 This is such a charming MOC. The forced perspective is great and that bridge is lovely. I sure didn't know Kaliphlin had anything like this in it! Quote
