davidr Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 I built him as a normal hero first but then I added this mutation for the contest. It is much more advanced than the first "entry" I built and didnt actually entry with. My goal was that it will fit into HF design and it still wont be very simple. http://www.brickshel...ks/p1100267.jpg http://www.brickshel...ks/p1100268.jpg http://www.brickshel...ks/p1100269.jpg Sorry for the horrible quality of my photos, but I dont have anything better to photograph with. I can later show the original version of this character and I can make for photos if you will want. Quote
Chro Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Oh man, this is really nice. You're the first one I've seen so far to balance complexity and the HF aesthetic very well. The color layering isn't the best- most places are orange over lime while some have lime over orange. Not really a huge problem, and the build itself is good anyway. XD By the way, your photos are fine, not horrible. Quote
Dorek Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Decidedly an interesting entry into the contest, none the least of which is the color scheme. Weirdly enough, it actually still manages to create a "Hero" presence, despite the amount of mutations. Kinda wish the Hero Core could be a bit higher, but the chest armor is super creative, so I can't fault you for that. The Kraata is very extraneous, and the Slizer foot crotch plate isn't doing it any favors either, but the proportions are solid otherwise. The arms probably could have stood to use a HF style arm and cladding, but that's probably a design choice. A very creative entry, for sure, we haven't seen too many like this. Quote
VBBN Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Most thoughts have been summed up that I'll agree with. Theres a good balance going on here with HF style and complexity, with the best part seeming to be the torso design. One question does come to mind, something that struck me immediately as I saw this; ...Is that Kraata a mohawk? Quote
davidr Posted July 8, 2013 Author Posted July 8, 2013 (edited) Thanks guys. The color layering isn't the best- most places are orange over lime while some have lime over orange Tbh I just threw some mutations on already completed hero and parts I used arent there in orange. But I can say that orange parts are organic tissue made by mutations and green are metallic parts which somehow grew after that brain got him. By the way, your photos are fine, not horrible. Okay. :D The Kraata is very extraneous, and the Slizer foot crotch plate isn't doing it any favors either, but the proportions are solid otherwise. The arms probably could have stood to use a HF style arm and cladding, but that's probably a design choice. Crotch would be too hollow without that slizer foot and it looks much better in person than on these photos. I cant build very good arms and I didnt want them to be just simple HF parts and this design is so simple but effective. :P One question does come to mind, something that struck me immediately as I saw this; ...Is that Kraata a mohawk? Well, I thought about it as some mutation to the brain, that it was changed in a lab, but mohawk? That sound awesome. Edited July 8, 2013 by davidr Quote
