Zib Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Hi all, this is my reimagined version of Breakout Stormer XL Click on the image to access Flickr set. Also on MocPages Quote
davidr Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Good job with armoring him. But overally I dont particularly like this revamp. I dont like the mix of gunmetal and silver, most of these parts but these on lower arms are available in silver, so why are they gunmetal? I think that you should left sides of the torso unarmored, because it breaks the flow of the body. And I dont get these tubes. His upper legs look a bit awkward with armor attached to sides, but not so much. I would like to see stickers there, they are great looking on Stormer and this is revamp. And the main reason why I dont like it so much: where is his sword? I dont think this is much of an improvement over the actual set. It is good old Stormer, but he is just missing the feeling of his XL form. Sorry. I am maybe too hard on you. Quote
Leewan Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I agree with davidr about the gunmetal. This is a quite nice revamp, I like the overall look of the MOC, even if there are some minor flaws, like the thighs, that seem too thin to me, and the tubes, that may not be necessary (or not that way, they might look better if attached in another way). Anyways, I like it better than the original Stormer XL, so I think you succeed with your revamp ! :D Quote

It is good old Stormer, but he is just missing the feeling of his XL form. Sorry. I am maybe too hard on you. Hard? Nhaaaa. Btw, it's reimagined. And for me that means that I can change anything. Drones and sword are gone because they didn't fit during the building process. The side armor is there to give it 'mass', I put them on purpose because the idea is that this Stormer is heavy and strong. In photos it seems a bit flat but in reality there is no big flow break. Stickers? I don't like them. Thanks. The thighs are thin on purpose. In this case (like also in the breez xl character I uploaded on Flicks) I wanted to exagerate some features in a cartoonish way (anyway, in HF is difficult to cover that area). Why? Because i Like it! :) Maybe I will take a looK at the color scheme. Who knows. Thanks. Quote
Dorek Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Yeah, part of the reason the original Stormer could mix silver into his color scheme was the scout drones, which allowed for layering. Some of the gunmetal and silver armor pieces don't come across as well here (and also I miss the scout drones =P). The body is nicely constructed, though the torso narrows awfully fast. Good use of the Breakout chest plate in conjunction with the Hulk one, regardless. The tubes are a bit unnecessary, but they do add some nice aesthetics as well. I'd love to see you redo his sword, too. Quote

Zib Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 (edited) I dont like the mix of gunmetal and silver, most of these parts but these on lower arms are available in silver, so why are they gunmetal? It took me some time to check, but do you know what? :) When this MOC was done (about one year ago I think) those pieces weren't available in silver. So I tried this mix.
