Garmadon Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 High up in Mitgardia's mountains lies Uridius' Keep. The finest architects have been summoned to help build the massive castle, carved into rock-hard mountain stone! Masons and other workers have already completed three-fourths of the splendid castle! A wood-worker adds the finishing touches to the doors while a mason starts on the second tower. Uridius surveys the view from the completed left tower. Another detail shot: C&C welcome! I was kind of rushing to finish this up so I wasn't able to take quite as much time on the snow as I would have wished, but it didn't turn out too bad I guess! Thanks for looking! Quote
Infernum Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Very nice! Love the castle and rockwork! Cool draw-bridge too! Love the snow on top of the mountain! My favorite part, though a small detail, is the way you included the guild's colors. Great job! Quote
Mike S Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Great entry! A lot of awesome details, especially the waterfall! Quote
runmymouth Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Looks great. I really need to find some 1x1 tiles from PAB because I see so many cool water effects with blues, teals, and whites for water with those. Quote
de Gothia Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 What a wonderful waterfall! I love that! And that little lift is a great detail! Well done! Quote
mrcp6d Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I like how clean this is. Using a whole bunch of 1x1s for water is fun, but sometimes becomes the MOC. IMHO you've shown here just how nice plain blue SNOT water can look. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I just said it to Infernum, but it's true for you too: I think this is your best build yet, all the details come together well and the presentation shows them off well. The first thing that stood out to me was your presentation, your pictures look perfect! I really like the 1x1 rounds and 1x2 tiles used to add interest to the wall and the crenelations look good too The little lift is my favorite detail Great work on the landscaping with the waterfall, cliffs, and snow too. I'm really pleased with the strong Mitgardian showing for the MAC. Quote
Esurient Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Great work on the lift, rock work, landscaping and waterfall! Quote
ZCerberus Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Really nice, clean work. Photo work is so much better too. Bravo. Quote
Kai NRG Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Fantastic work! Excellent concept and just really good job overall! Love the smoothness of the entire MOC, that SNOT water works really well and the tower sticks out from the rock very nicely! Great job! Quote
kabel Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Really great waterfall and very great overall design. Cool stuff there Garmadon! Quote
monsinjor Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Very nice. I like everything in this creation, from waterfal, bridge to the perfect combination of colours. Quote
Wedge09 Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Great  I really like the idea of the fortress carved in the mountain Quote
Garmadon Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 (edited) Sorry for not answering before, thanks all! Very nice! Love the castle and rockwork! Cool draw-bridge too! Love the snow on top of the mountain! My favorite part, though a small detail, is the way you included the guild's colors. Great job! Thanks, I always try to include the guild colors Looks great. I really need to find some 1x1 tiles from PAB because I see so many cool water effects with blues, teals, and whites for water with those. Yea, I had thought that 200 was a lot, now I think I should have gotten more like a thousand! I just said it to Infernum, but it's true for you too: I think this is your best build yet, all the details come together well and the presentation shows them off well. I agree, this is probably my best build, and the photography, well, taking pictures (or at least close-ups) on a cloudy day seems to work very well Really great waterfall and very great overall design. Cool stuff there Garmadon! Great  I really like the idea of the fortress carved in the mountain Thanks Kabel, and @ Wedge, its quite Mitgardian Edited August 4, 2013 by Garmadon Quote
Ecclesiastes Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Very nice, love the stonework and the drawbridge. You're photo's are also very clear, keep it up! Quote
Maxim I Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 So many things to like in here!!! The waterfall is really great for example! And the woodwork is completely mad !! Quote

Garmadon Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 I'd like to receive advance placement credits for studs up rocks and cliffs (Landscape Design) and waterfalls (Hydrology). Quote
Kai NRG Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 +1 on each! The waterfall is quite nice on the bottom especially. Quote
mpoh98 Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Wow fantastic work so far! I love the finished moc, and yet it is unfinished, as they are building it! Well done! Quote
Gideon Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Apparently I missed commenting on this when it was first posted, I guess I was too exhausted after rushing my own MAC building in just 3 days (and nights). Anyway, I definitely think this build deserves credit for studs up rocks. The waterfall is also nice, and I will give you a +1 there as well...but as with many other waterfalls I've seen in Lego, the physics does not add up with the water too calm very close to where the falling water hits the surface. So another time I would have liked to see more motion Quote
Gabe Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Sorry for the bump but i just wanted to complete the UP grading for this Moc... +1 for studs up rocks and waterfall. Although i do agree with gideon about the waterfall looking a bit odd, but for different reasons - it looks frozen at the top and flowing at the bottom! I'm guessing the water comes out of some fissure in the cliff but it would be nice to see that shown a bit more clearly. But that aside, this is a lovely clean build with undeniable aesthetic appeal. I especially like the little scene of the soldiers' building the walls on the right. Quote

I'm guessing the water comes out of some fissure in the cliff but it would be nice to see that shown a bit more clearly. I actually don't think that is so odd, that a layer of ice (sometimes in spectacular formations) forms on top of the water might happen in nature as well. An example from Google: Quote
Garmadon Posted December 14, 2013 Author Posted December 14, 2013 Sorry to bump this again, but thanks all, and about the waterfall, I know it is a bit of a rough transition from the snow to the water and from the water to the river/ocean, or whatever it is but it was the best I could do with my bricks just then I enjoy doing waterfalls though, and will probably be doing more some time soon Quote
