Hobbythom Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Hi Guys! Today I had both inspiration and time, so I decided to build my entry. This is my first SciFi build in 16 years and my first Star Wars moc ever.. so please be gentle! The hull is full of civilians from cloud city. People from all walks of life: blue collar working men, priests, tramps and children packed together tightly like sardines in a can. The evacuation was... messy, to say the least. The stampede of civilians trying to reach or ship was frightening. Doc got pushed of the platform trying to get to a little girl that was in danger of being trampled. Perhaps he was lucky. It was a quick death without pain or suffering. That's a faith the poor men and women in the sleeping quarters face. These are the most severely wounded. Trampled, cut or even shot up they lay on the beds of the crew. Since Doc bought it, I am the next most eligible candidate to check on this sorry bunch. But frankly, I don't know what I'm doing.... Captain Settle Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Nice clean build, and it was done quickly as well. Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Whoah, that was quick! You mentioned it's happening in the hull, but I'd rather see it happening somewhere in the chambers of the Cloud City. It really has that white feel and it's hard to believe Rebels have such a clean vessel. The interior is simple and clean, but the fram is what I really like. Nice usage of the modified brick with the groove. It looks like a nice window frame, so I initially thought it's happening in the Cloud City - waiting for pickup. Quote
Hobbythom Posted August 7, 2013 Author Posted August 7, 2013 (edited) Thanks for the feedback MstrofPpts! The window was inspired by that scene at the end of the empire strikes back, and the interior by the Tantive IV... at least the whiteness of it all! So at least there are some ships in the rebellion that are still white and clean on the inside. Besides that it is also a practical choice: I haven't got enough grey bricks to make it more greyish Edited August 7, 2013 by Hobbythom Quote
Lego Chris Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 I like it, it looks like a scene from the Nebulon-B medical frigate where Luke gets his new hand. Nice idea and execution Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Very creative interpretation of the assignment, and those grooved bricks used in the windows are excellent parts usage. It feels a little cramped, but in this case I think that that's a good thing, showing how many people are in this ship. I do think that, as has been said, some more greys would be nice, and I'd also add some sort of medical equipment as well. (Don't forget that your entry is a WIP until the deadline passes, so you have over a month to refine the entry. ) Quote
Nom Carver Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Very nice, and the story adds up to it , I really like the window and overall looks of it, some medical equipment would help (a droid maybe) but it could affect the feel of the overpopulated ship. Quote
Esurient Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Very nice build, I like the idea of looking through the screen into the chamber! Quote
Hobbythom Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 Thanks for the feedback everyone, I'll alter it a bit when I have the time. Forgot it is a WIP until the deadline, good thing to know! Quote
Bkrosell Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Great work Hobbythom, I would suggest adding something more onto what you have , but that is impressive. Quote
Hobbythom Posted August 12, 2013 Author Posted August 12, 2013 I managed to patch two of the civilians up. They joined the rest of the fugitives in the main storage bay. I suddenly remembered there was an old medical droid on board.. a real ancient one but it would have to do. It surely can't do a worse job then me.... Quote
Nom Carver Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 (edited) I like your medic droid, it looks more like some kind of alien, very original , you could also try a medical droid (http://starwars.wiki...assistant_droid) like the one in Vader's transformation (http://www.brickset....ail/?Set=7251-1) Edited August 12, 2013 by Nom Carver Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 I really like the design of the new droid, but somehow the colors don't work for me. I understand that the helmet needs to be green, but maybe the light cone doesn't fit or the arm joints shouldn't be green. I don't know, you can give it a go and play a bit more with it ... Quote
narbilu Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Gettin better every day... wow on the droid, very Jetsons Quote
Hobbythom Posted August 13, 2013 Author Posted August 13, 2013 Hi guys, thanks for the feedback! Mstrofppts, I know what you mean. Not completely happy with it myself.. That's why I posted it, hoping for some feedback. I'll toy around with it some more! Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I really like it. I prefer the scene without the medical droid, as it was your character that was tending the wounded. Quote
Donnie Bricko Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 (edited) The droid is very unique, but the original scene and storyline are more appealing to me. Nice work on the MOC. Edited September 5, 2013 by Donnie Bricko Quote
Rogue Angel Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Nice work on a compact build! I also really like the Nebulon B-esque window. You've done a good job on that droid too, I really like the use of the army helmet. Good work! Quote
kermit Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I like the technique you used to create the window. Quote
Jacob Nion Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 That's a nice idea, not being directly engaged in battle but to take care of the wounded. And your entry resembles closely the medical room aboard the redemption. And your medical droid is a very smart build with use of the plastic soldier helmet. Quote
