[Datalog:]

[Datalog: 000002//Designation: TK-671//Assignment: Maintain Data Relay A14]

Nothing to report. Snowfall heavy. Request thermal heater.

[Datalog: 000003//Designation: TK-671//Assignment: Maintain Data Relay A14]

Nothing to report. Snowfall heavier.

[Datalog: 00004//Designation: TK-671//Assignment: Maintain Data Relay A14]

Nothing to report. Snowfall lighter. Re-request thermal heater.

[Datalog: 00008//Designation: TK-671//Assignment: Maintain Data Relay A14]

Nothing to report. Snowfall picking back up. Saw a tauntaun outside today. I think that was the high point of this week.

[Datalog: 000010//Designation: TK-671//Assignment: Maintain Data Relay A14]

Nothing to report, except that I'm still waiting on that thermal heater.

[Datalog: 000011//Designation: TK-671//Assignment: Maintain Data Relay A14]

Still waiting...

[Datalog: 000012//Designation: TK-671//Assignment: Maintain Data Relay A14]

REBEL SNEAK ATTACK!!!

[Datalog: 000013//Designation: TK-671//Assignment: Maintain Data Relay A14]

Nothing? Is anyone even reading these?

[Datalog: 000017//Designation: TK-671//Assignment: Sitting in this post freezing my megablocks off for no reason]

I abandoned my post today and made some snow angels.

[Datalog: 000019//Designation: TK-671//Assignment: Sitting in this post freezing my megablocks off for no reason]

Noticed a light on top of the antenna. Isn't that thing supposed to be lit up? I'll head out there and try to fix it up. Maybe I can get decent enough reception to watch some HoloVid.

[signal Restored//Datalog back-up transmitted]

[Datalog: 000020//Designation: TK-846//Assignment: Maintain Data Relay A14]

Nothing to report. Snowfall normal. Data relay is now operational. Looks like it hasn't been maintained in weeks.

It's my first MOC in quite a long time, so I'm well aware it's not much.

I'm happy with how the snow turned out. I was going for a windswept look, and I think it looks alright. I tried to use as many angles as I could, rounded or otherwise. Those little 2x2 corner esque-pieces are going to be very, very useful for Imperial-styled windows, they round off the corners very nicely.

Here's an additional shot of the E-Web, just because I like it a lot more than I thought I would. The barrel's longer in person, the angle of the picture cuts down on length.

Thoughts? Comments? Most importantly, advice? (I'd like this judged, by the way.)

Nicely done, Pie! :sweet: The interior is excellent, though either he's shooting through a window or he gets a lot of windchill from a big opening in his outpost wall. I think I would expect to see some snow piled up against at least one of the sides, not just in the front, and maybe the 2x3 slopes on the left are a bit chunky, but it looks good. I love how flimsy the antenna looks even though it's supposed to be deployed on a planet with snowstorms and high winds. And 'everyday life of Stormtrooper' MOCs are always fun to see.

Very good indeed, CallMePie!

aside from what brickdoctor mentioned, I think the interior looks a bit basic from the outside (but very good from the inside). maybe lowering the window 1 stud would reveal the nice bottom of the furniture more, and turning the controls facing the other side of the window at a same angle will refrain looking at a boring wall.

I really like the side builded walls, but of course the exposed internals of the bricks on the other side might be a bit irritating, maybe inverted tiles or half pins with tiles on them will look better for that.

I don't think that would be better; you want the vig to look realistic. Realistically, you wouldn't have your consoles facing the outside where anyone could see them but you couldn't and it was hard for you to access them.

"shhh! I'm just 100 metres away looking with a binocular what he is doing! if he would face it the other side, I can look at many secret imperial messages!

still haven't been discovered, although my TaunTaun walked a way and I had to distract him with a certain ring to retrieve the animal. (he kept whispering about a certain precious or something like that  )"

I just meant a few degrees to the window, that shouldn't give problem for him accessing it. never mind.

Thanks for the comments everyone, as well as the blog Doc. I'm excited to finally have reason to work on some MOCs. :sweet:

That was the one problem I had with the SNOT walls....I don't have many of those pins, but I'll have to try and dig some up for next time.

Don't use the Technic pins to invert stuff. It leaves a gap that almost always looks ugly. Use some headlight bricks with some 1x1 Technic bricks; they'll have dimensions in whole numbers of plates.

I know about the gap, but what do you mean with headlight bricks and technic 1x1 bricks? I can't think of anything that would make it snotted with those two pieces?

Use the Technic pieces if you want to cover up the studs sticking out on the sides. (Not in the shot because the slight difference in placement of the hole vs. placement of the stud makes it an illegal build.)

so that was what you meant! I thought it was something like that, but I couldn't find then where to place the technic bricks. but then you again have holes left?

what might work to solve the gab issue on the other technique, is by placing a plate at the brick at the top brick you want to be covered, and under that plate on the other brick you want to be covered put the half pin with attached tile (2 x length, so it goes on the back of the aforementioned plate), and then move it not completely in the back of the brick. It might solve the gab at the top, while looking from the bottom there is a pin visible (but you won't look at the bottom)

I hope I have explained it properly, but I'm not sure if it will work good.

Interesting idea. I found a ton of headlight bricks while I was looking for the newer version in the Mines of Moria set...I might do that.

Covers up the studs on the sides if you only want reversed studs and not studs going off in the two other directions.

Not sure what you're saying. If you're suggesting that the cap be covered up by another plate, then you end up with a protruding plate, plus the gap is still there so it can still throw off the dimensions when you're trying to make everything fit.

I expected that :classic:

I tried it, and it works really well.

I managed to take some pics, but they are bad iPod quality - sorry for that

as you can see, from above you don't notice the difference between this and an inverted tile!

Definitely use it. It's been my go-to technique for SNOT whenever I start building something for a couple years; it's still my favorite.

In most cases the headlight brick technique is probably going to be less bulky than that pin assembly.
