There was over 70 missing parts in my set and over 60 parts not needed or not used in the set.

All the 1 bags were ok, but the 2 bags stuff is missing from the winch and front grill.

It sounds like you got 2 of one bag instead of the other. It shouldn't happen, but I guess it's easily done.

I just wonder if there's someone out there with 2 lots of the pieces you're missing and 70 pieces missing :S

Thats possible and contacting support is hard work because they dont know anything about the competition.

EDIT: I spotted the bag missing on one of photos above, a number 2 bag at the bottom in the middle.

That could've been quite bad if one of those bags was the one with the printed License plate! (looking at the parts list at least it appears not)

As I reported, TLG manually repacked 3000 sets. It looks like some errors occured during this procedure. I hope this is lonely case, otherwise It will be very for sets which will be left MISB for longer period.

Lego support can idendify which bag is missing by telling them one or two part numbers, it took about 7 minuites because they had to find the app that did this, once they have confirmed my details the bag will be shipped out, now they have done this for me then anyone else with this problem should be able to get it sorted out quickly.

When I ordered the 9398 rock crawler when it was first released they sent me a Vampire Castle, I just have bad luck with lego, I'm sure everyone else will be fine :D

I really want my winch parts, it can out climb the 9398 easily :P

When last year did we first hear about a competition? I reckon that if one happens it will be tied to one of this years sets and not last years so no more rc cars.

JM1971 this set has (some kind of) analogue steering if you use the train remote control.

The servo motor used in set 9398 and 41999 can also be controlled with the remote control used for the Lego trains.

The motors used for driving will have 7 speeds forwards and 7 backwards and the servo motor has 7 steps left and 7 steps to the right.

You have to push the stop button (are turn back to the zero step) to stop the motors.

The servo motor stays positioned in the selected step the same as you use the remote control for a train (use the stop button to go to center position).

I think, I am the guy having the missing bag. I compared my bags with the picture of all bags and I have twice the middle bag from the last row of bags with nr. 2 and the right most bag nr. 2 from the same row is missing.

There we go, we have come full circle!

Just use the same procedure as JM1971 (or do a swap!) and you'll be crawling away in no time :)

You might have to count every brick to list the missing parts or if you can find a part in the missing bag that is unique to that bag so lego support can trace the missing bag from that part, once you do that it should take 7-10 days for delivery.

Lego will tell you to keep the other bag if you offer to send it back to them, lego support is pretty good.
