LegoFjotten Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 (edited) Link to the first part of the story: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=85637 Barely a minute had passed since I climbed out of the maintenance tunnel and into a small utility room before the rest of the team caught up. First up was Jackson, a scary looking Rebel Commando. He was followed by Sgt. Logan, who was our squad leader for the mission. My friend Jak was the last one, he was even more of a rookie than me. "This is is it.", Logan said, "If we pull this off, we might have a chance of getting those civilians out of here alive. We have small window of opportunity, and it is closing fast, so let's get a move on!" We moved along the corridor as quickly and quietly as we could. Logan had instructed me & Jak to ditch our helmets, "The last thing I want is for one of you rookies to bang your head in a doorway and give us away before we are in position" he said. "Yeah, right" I thought to myself, "Only Imperial Stormtroopers are that dumb." Jackson had already taken out the first Stormtrooper without making a sound when I rounded the next corner. He motioned me to follow him and take up position at the door to the guard room while he scouted ahead. Logan & Jak headed up the stairs towards the control room. Just a short moment later I heard the lock on the guard room engage. Whew! That meant Logan & Jak had taken control of the control room and had remotely locked down the guard room. With the control room out of commission we had created a small blind spot so the larger evacution shuttles could approach unnoticed. We knew it wouldn't last long, but at least we had bought ourselves some time for the next part of our mission... C&C welcome! Wedge09 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Really nice work  I really like the setting Quote
Jacob Nion Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Very smart use of these Dementor legs. And an impressiv amount of this part. A cool scene. I'm glad to see some Rebel Troopers in action. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Very nice! I really like the high windows and smooth curving portions of the walls — very Cloud City-esque — and I think you did a great job working with and balancing three different shades of grey. As for suggestions... you already did a great job on what's there; maybe finish adding the roof? Quote
Artizan Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Excellent scene. One minor detail bothers me which is rebels having chin straps without helmets, I would think that the chin straps are part of the helmet. And perhaps, maybe you can highlight the door by making it a different color than the walls, or perhaps putting some lights in front of it, just suggestions. Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 ... "The last thing I want is for one of you rookies to bang your head in a doorway and give us away before we are in position" he said. "Yeah, right" I thought to myself, "Only Imperial Stormtroopers are that dumb." Hahaha, this one really made me chuckle! If anyone didn't get it, it's a reference to a well known movie blooper. Nice job on this vig, I like the SNOT and everything going on. I'm just not to fond of the antenas on the window. It's something you would see in a LEGO set, but it makes the MOC look a bit unrealistic, so I'd add a roof like Brickdoctor suggested or just skip the antena and make it look like it continues ... Brickdoctor Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 One minor detail bothers me which is rebels having chin straps without helmets, I would think that the chin straps are part of the helmet. They don't want to be recognized since they're committing treason against a galaxy-wide empire. They're wearing strap-on wigs. Quote
Tariq j Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Nice build, I like the use of smooth grey pieces and how they blend nicely into the model. Quote
Nom Carver Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 I like the way you placed the figs, and the building is also very good. Quote
LegoFjotten Posted August 20, 2013 Author Posted August 20, 2013 (edited) Thanks for the comments all! I had a roof on there initially, but it was so ugly I took it off! The chin straps are just laziness, next version will have new heads for the troopers. Will give the roof another go and see if I can work something out. It's the rounded ends that give me trouble since I don't have a lot of rounded parts that can finish it off smoothly. Edited August 20, 2013 by LegoFjotten Quote
TWP Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Nice MOC! I like it. The use of the dementor legs is great, I havn't seen that being used before, the big car windows also stand out. Except for the chin straps, I think you should put a 1x1 plate under the dementor legs and maybe then also replace the bricks under it for two plates to maintain the height. It now looks so strange with the small round pieces between the straight tiles. Quote
wilson3a10 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 woo nice to see some actions in this set. Very nice job! Quote
Mr Man Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Really great, I like MOCs and scenes of commando raids and this is a really great one. Quote
LegoFjotten Posted August 20, 2013 Author Posted August 20, 2013 Thanks for all the comments and suggestions guys, posted some updated photos. I already thought about adding 1x1 DBG plates under the dementor legs, but I didn't have enough unfortunately, tried with LBG plates which I think looked a little better than the original version. Hmm, now that I look at the pictures the details of the roof are hard to make out, there is another big window on there that is a little hard to see. Maybe I'll add one more picture. Oh, and I'm ready to be scored! Quote
Ninja Nin Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Very nice build ! I really like your clean design, with the grille bricks add some fine touch on both the exterior wall and floor. Quote
Wat Tambor Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Nice little story and a great building thah you have created there. Does this free build take place on Bespin/Cloud City or on an other planet? Cause I can't get this information from the text above. The building itself looks quite good as well, I really like the use of those different window elements, especially the use of the car windows. I'd like to use this technique on one of my future moc's as well, of course only if you allow this to me. This "relaxing room" where the stormtroopers meet to have some coffee is quite funny. So keep it up! Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Does this free build take place on Bespin/Cloud City or on an other planet? Cause I can't get this information from the text above. He mentions that the object of the mission depicted is to help get the civilians off the planet, which is the goal of Episode I on Cloud City, so I assume that's where this is. Quote
Scorpiox Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 The aesthetic is so smooth and sleek... I like it very much. The protruding window and how you attached it especially attracts my eye. Quote

It is a continuation from my first build, I should have included a link to the first part of the story which establishes the setting: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=85637 Feel free to use whatever techniques you want, I'm a rookie myself so I borrow ideas all the time! Lord Vladivus Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 This is one of my favourite SoNE builds yet. It's a natural continuation of your first build! Brilliant! Quote
LegoFjotten Posted August 24, 2013 Author Posted August 24, 2013 Thank you for the kind comments! Quote
Bkrosell Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 The build is awesome, I like how you turned the large windshields into windows. Nicely done Quote
