If you have any better ways to represent rocks being thrown out of the volcano I'm really open to suggestions .. I think the antennas aren't too bad .. quite bendy too .. but I guess fire doesn't really follow the rock like that in real life ..

You created a masterpiece here. The use of the antenna pieces to portray the pyroclastic bombs being thrown out from the volcano is class act indeed. I think you could of put some black plate pieces on the baseplate to represent the ash from the volcano covering the land.

Maybe the pyroclastic rocks are to big (out of scale compared to the size of the vulcano). You could brickbuild some smaler rocks, the antenas could be replaced by some brickbuild plumes of smoke (something like the tail of a comet).
