HammerBro Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 For my first freebuild of Book II, I have created a vignette showing what the soldiers The Woodland Guard look like. Deep in the forests of Vanhorn, there is a militia of men that keeps the peace of the forest. They are known as The Woodland Guard. This militia is commanded by General Jeffery Alder. On horseback is Felix Jang, Captain of the 37th Squadron and the others are soldiers of that squadron. Their names(from left) are Epsilon Kelas, Cal Woodlawn, and Juno Elms. There is one more soldier of the 37th Squadron that ins't shown and that is Jesse Asp. The Woodland Guard is an elite division of the collective armies of Vanhorn. The soldiers who are accepted into this branch are trained by the Elves in the best tracking methods, archery methods, and survival techniques. They are held to the highest standard and are respected by many. I showed a bit of the type of battlements the Guard has constructed throughout the forest in my last MOC, Traveling the Woods. Any Outlaws that are found are to be apprehended and taken to the nearest town to serve jail time. These soldiers will be on high alert when the Civil Wars comes to the Enchanted Forest of Avalonia. de Gothia Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Great looking figs and excellent photos! Looking forward to mocs with these good looking fellas in them! Quote
LegoDrake Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Excellent mini-figures.I wouldn't want to come across these guys in a dark passage. Quote
Niku Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 The troops look very good and the quality of the photo if great. :) Quote
soccerkid6 Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Ditto to what's already been said, great figs and great photography You incorporated the custom elements very well Quote
Gideon Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Excellent photography, you are really doing those nice figs justice! The only problem is that my puristic side gets sad by seeing great figs use third-party parts, but I can't deny that those parts work very well for these figs Quote
Captain Nemo Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Very nice--I normally don't like the use of 3rd parties, but they are used very well here and blend perfectly--great job! Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I agree about the 3rd party stuff, but those figs do rock! To echo the others, nice photography! Quote
HammerBro Posted September 14, 2013 Author Posted September 14, 2013 (edited) Thank you all for the complements on both the picture quality and the figs. @Gideon, CN, and LV, I hear what you all are saying about 3rd party parts and I was with you on 'purity' until this build. The problem I had was that lego couldn't provide a gold helmet that worked well with these guys. I checked out several 3rd party vendors and settled with BrickWarriors. Thanks again for the comments and I do plan to use these figs in the future MOCs. Edited September 14, 2013 by HammerBro33 Quote
Cara Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 I like these guys. They really make me realize I NEED more of those shields as they scream Mitgardia. I like the third party pieces (when I often find them a bit jarring). Here they mesh really well, especially the antler and horn. I look forward to seeing you use them in a future MOC. Quote
Derfel Cadarn Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Like others have said, these figured work very well and it's a great combination of Lego and 3rd party parts. Nice to know these guys are on Avalonia's side! Quote
Infernum Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Great looking figs! Personally, I have no issues with 3rd parties (Brickwarriors especially). Quote
Bkrosell Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Nice, where do you get those helmets? Quote
Infernum Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Nice, where do you get those helmets? They be from Brickwarriors, my friend! Quote
HammerBro Posted September 16, 2013 Author Posted September 16, 2013 They be from Brickwarriors, my friend! Yes, its the Jousting Helmet from Brickwarriors. Several other pieces from this build were also from them. Like others have said, these figured work very well and it's a great combination of Lego and 3rd party parts. Nice to know these guys are on Avalonia's side! Thanks for the comment and I agree with you about what side they're on! Quote
Infernum Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Yes, its the Jousting Helmet from Brickwarriors. Several other pieces from this build were also from them. I love Bick Warriors! Their products are so well detail, and feel just as good, if not better than official parts. Quote
kermit Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Your army looks great. I would like to have multiples of those. Quote
HammerBro Posted September 17, 2013 Author Posted September 17, 2013 Thanks, kermit. I was quite glad with how this batch of figs turned out. @Infernum, I know! Its nice to have a great 3rd party producer to turn to if you find yourself without the right lego brand part. Quote
