The rails that comes with 7860 with an "interruption", can I make them myself, by just cutting the metal?

You can take of the electric conductor pieces by bending the small metal pieces on the bottom, and then cut them using a metal saw. But it precise work if you want it to look nice. I tried to do so some time ago, but I did not succeed too well: it works mechanically, but not aesthetically ;-)

See here for more info and check other posts in thread too. Please note that on my picture, the conductor metal is cut on both sides (in order to have electronically isolated parts of the tracks which are mechanically connected so they can be hooked up to several transformers).

I made some blue interrupt rails this way, take off the metal, cut it, and put it back. After that I put a bit of tape on it so that the electrical contacts of the motor slide more smoothly over the gap.
