soccerkid6 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 (edited) I experimented with some new techniques in this build: the water, the snow, and the trees. The water and trees original designs are by Buurli_Burri and Brother Steven. The snow design is new as far as I know, basically you use white tiles set on top of dark bley slopes. To keep the tiles from falling off you build around them a bit with other slopes/bricks etc. The pictures should show what I mean. A Mitgardian Clansmen goes spear fishing in the snowy Clanlands. Any C&C appreciated Edited January 18, 2014 by soccerkid6 Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Great build, love the trees. Clever way to do the snow as well! Quote
Kerntechniker Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Excellent, the water surface looks great and I like the effect of seeing the ground in sheme style. The landscape beside the water is also great it submits a very good effect of the snowy river feeling. Quote
Mr. Townsend Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 This is very cool. Snow is a hard build and you did an excellent job. The fish under the water is a cool detail too. My only gripe is that the stud end of the water isn't covered by your base. Quote

I too really like that tree design, I modified Brother Steven's version a little bit Excellent, the water surface looks great and I like the effect of seeing the ground in sheme style. The fish under the water is a cool detail too. My only gripe is that the stud end of the water isn't covered by your base. Thank you, as for the studs showing from the trans clear, if I had built the base higher the last row of trans 1x2 bricks would have had to have been two rows of trans 1x2 plates which would have looked a little odd I think Edited September 30, 2013 by soccerkid6 Quote
HammerBro Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 The snow looks wonderful! The water also gives off a nice icy feeling and the plants work great as well. Quote

Thanks, I'm glad you like the plants, I thought the scene needed something other than the trees/snow/water so I added those Quote
kbcakir Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Best water scene ever!!! Can i steal it? Quote

Infernum Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Nice SK! Love the fig and the water! Nice rock too! Those trees are great, might have to borrow some of your borrowed techniques. Quote
kabel Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 nice one as always sk, great water effect, nice snow etc. However, I don't nessecarily like those cheesy trees, I think they look a bit too blocky. Anyway, great entry ... Quote
Torgar Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I really like that water effect, and I actually like how the trees look, they seem to go with your snow technique. Well done as always! Quote
Leewan Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Very good, I love the water effect (even though it gives me a frozen river feel, because of trans-clear parts and snow). This is a nice little scene, congratulations, soccerkid ! Quote

mrcp6d Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 It looks cold. I like that. But it looks really cold, as in frozen water cold. Good luck with spear fishing through ice! Solid experiment though, I like the color gradients below the ice water and the little pine trees. Now I need to go build something cold.... Quote

Yeah, to me it looks kind of like when the ice is just forming (before its turned solid) as you can still see through it pretty well. And you should definitely go build something cold Quote
