mikezang Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I have no new PF train motor, and I tried to use old 9v train motor, but I found if I put 2x2 plate with wire to 9v train motor, the bogie plate can't be rotated as 2x2 plate with wire is too thick, is this right? Do I have to make a 2x2 plate with wire by electronic plate? Quote
JopieK Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 would this give you a hint: http://letsbuilditagain.com/instructions/4512/ ?! Quote
alainneke Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) I also ran into this problem when adding PF LEDs to my 9V Maersk train. The distance between the bogies on this train is bigger than with other LEGO trains. When you put a 9V connector on top of the 9V engine, it's studs will interlock with the train baseplate and the bogie will be prevented from rotating. My solution was to use the 9V cable with thin connectors (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=5306ac015). The connectors on this cable are only 1 plate high, so they don't catch the train baseplate: Maersk train power connector by alainneke, on Flickr Maersk train power connector by alainneke, on Flickr Edited October 2, 2013 by alainneke Quote

zephyr1934 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 If you are comfortable with a soldering iron, you might want to get one of the old electric plates, e.g., 4757 and use that as your main connection point. They came in 1x2, 2x4, and 2x8. You could easily cut a 2x4 in half or use a 1x2 for your connecter. Then again, if you have a 9v motor that you want to use for PF, you'd probably be better off selling or trading it. Quote
Lazarus Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 I would swap u a PF motor for a 9v one no questions asked. But i find with the cable coming off the motors they are a bit stiff to turn if the cable is brand new. Also i think the PF cable is a bit thicker than the one you are showing in the pic. Maybe move the cable to the rear slot in the base see if that helps or maybe take the cable out and flex it a bit to loosen the cable up a bit. Quote
