Hey all,

Here is the first backstory build for my character in GoH. This whole creation is dedicated to Luke Watkins, and his amazing techniques! Thank you so much for sharing them!

Story:

As Feren grew older, he felt the need for adventure. Time and time again he left for long periods of time on search for adventure, or on mission for his father, the Earl of Ancroft. Finally, his father gave him the biggest mission of them all.....take back the island of Marrock. Ever since the Earl had heard of some outlaws landing and populating the small island, his small island, he was itching to send some men to take Marrock back. Now he had the chance. He gave Feren a small detachment of troops, his chief archer Robin (also Feren's friend) to train more troops, and let him ask his friends. Feren excitedly wrote a letter to 2 of his best friends, Edvin and Lydia, who immediately replied in the positive. They arranged to meet at Lydia's cottage, Letholdus Cottage. When, Feren and his men were nearing the meeting place, his fine-tuned ear picked up the sounds of metal on metal. He and Robin rode ahead, with the 2 steeds for Feren's friends. When they arrived, they found Edvin and Lydia dueling....

Enjoy!

Outstanding build, mpoh98, and nice story so far

Excellent minifig posing and the house is also very good.

My only nitpick would be that the olive green leaves on the roof look a little out of place, seeing that the rest of the landscape doesn't have any of that color.

A minor point though, great work :sweet:

Excellent work! I like the ground and roof detail, as well as the well. The 1x1 round plate technique always looks nice for ground floors. I look forward to seeing what's in store for Marrock.

Like that little tree in the back window! I do think the peak of the roof ought to be black to go with the sides though.

Is there an interior?

Great house, really like how you've done the roof in dark tan tiles and added those olive vines to it. The only thing that looks kinda odd is the backside, as it doesn't fit with the rest and could use a little less evenly spread structuring

Nice moc, for the back wall did you run out of studs or just decided to change things up? I think youd do better keeping the same stone work for small buildings.

Keep it up

Excellent build, the stonework looks great and I like the balcony on the front

There are a few things I think could be improved: the pattern you have with dark brown slopes with reddish brown log bricks underneath them, and tan bricks underneath those, is interrupted by a row of tan plats towards the bottom; the cranks on the well look a little large, I think this handle would work better:

Your landscaping is very good, a few plants might add a bit, but seeing as it's pretty much just a yard I don't think they're necessary. Well done :classic:

Thanks Garmadon! Ah yes, I was going to put a tree there, but it was going to cover detail on the house, so I didn't include it. :/

Nice moc. You did a great job. The roof and the well stands out to me.

Thanks Man!

Thank you! :D Next backstory build is coming up!

Is that a tree in the back window?

Yep! ;D A mosaic.

Nice one!

Thanks!

Thank you mrcp6d! I agree, but I don't have black...oh well.

Sadly, no. I needed to tear this down, and did not have time to plan out an interior. Next time! Thanks for commenting!

It is lovely, but if there is an interior that w could see it would make it even better.

Thanks! I totally agree, next time I will make sure to include one.

Thanks! I agree, I didn't have much choice though.

Thanks Legonardo! Yes, I did run out of studs, sadly.

Thanks Isaac, your critiques are always helpful! I agree, but I don't have that piece, so I improvised. ;D

Exellent building, i like stained-glass window :classic:

Nice walls design!

Thanks Balthazar! :D

Great cottage! I love all the different techniques utilized here. One thing though - some of the images seem a bit too bright and little bit washed out - maybe the camera exposure is set a bit too high; or if you're adjusting the brightness digitally, maybe don't brighten quite so much (the third image from the bottom is really good, just the right balance of bright/dark to enhance all the lovely details).

Thanks for the comment, and the critique! I will definitely do that next time!

I love it! The balcony is very nice and that wall made of hundreds grey round plates is excellent touch.

I also like how you made the roof, nice choice of color. And the tree detail made of slopes is my favorite.

Thank you for sharing this and I hope you don't mind if I borrow some of your ideas
