roamingstop Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 This MOC started out as a project about a year ago - and has been bugging me ever since. However due to some big life changes I have decided it is the end of the road and it is time to show this MOC as WIP, and allow someone else the privilege of finishing it or displaying at their LUG. Yes I have entered a dark grey age. The locomotive is based on the famous DB VT 11.5 Trans Europe Express train - and there have been a few talented Lego MOC's which I cant match. However I wanted to make a more Retro style attempt - using as many bricks as possible from the early 1980's. The only change for modern life is conversion to PF as I no longer have any 12V track. Only four red 3x3 curved plates were not available in 1980. A link to a m4V video (should work directly in most browsers) is here The lead locomotive has a PF lights rigged via the 12V light prism, and integrated PF and battery. The rear locomotive also has PF lights which can be operated from a 9V PP3 battery. Unfortunately no interiors yet, and I will leave this to someone else. If anyone would like to acquire these models please let me know via PM. I would aim to recover the costs of the bricks / PF elements but I am not out for profit. Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Certainly looks retro. I seem to recall having some old 4.5V carriages with the Trans Europe Express logo. They have transparent bricks as windows even back then. Yours is a nice mix of old and new and doubtless would look good running on a set up of either type? Quote
JopieK Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Too bad you are quitting your 12V part of the LEGO hobby roaminstudio, will you at least remain a Train enthusiast?! Quote
roamingstop Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 I'll still keep some of the PF models - but I much prefer to design and build rather than run or exhibit the models. Quote
The Dutch Guy Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 This looks great. I loved the 7740 set (still do and would love to own one), but this is brilliant. Retro indeed. Great fun and keep building my friend Quote
bartvdpoel Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 (edited) Was searching on the forum for the TEE VT 11.5 and came across this old thread. Love it, the retro look, and it was the most awesome Diesel train ever build! Edited November 30, 2014 by bartvdpoel Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 I love the 7740 and I like this amazing project! Quote
Man with a hat Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Very retro indeed. And considering the use of only 80s parts this is a stunning result. Quote
