B Rick Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 ^ Here's my interpretation of the 1966 Batmobile. As you see the contrasting color is limegreen. That's because of my lack of new bricks in red. Maybe I'll change the green to a dark red in the future, but for now the green is cool enough for me. ;) ^ The car is based on the MonsterFighters Hearse. I used that headlight treatment, minifig placement, and overall build-up as a base and went from there. Made it longer, lower, and added some more Batmobile characteristics. I've tried to make it meaner and leaner, lower and slower. Kind of a hotrod rod/custom attitude. Hope you'll like it. So, there you have it. My first official MOC, in my first official Forum-post. (besides my introduction ;) Feel free to comment and critisise. Quote
jacob_uno Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I love it! It is easily recognisable even with the green colour. Quote
NoEinstein Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Excellent (first) MOC! If you ever get your hands on some flames like this or this it probably would look even more awesome. Quote
robuko Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Very nice build of a really challenging vehicle. Great job! Quote
B Rick Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 Thanks for the nice words guys. Excellent (first) MOC! If you ever get your hands on some flames like this or this it probably would look even more awesome. I think I have the latter... Gotta try that sometime Quote
Brickadiergerard Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 This is a wonderful build - sleek, massive, retro and stylish. I would love to try and do something similar when the Juniors Batman figures are available. Quote
B Rick Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 Thanks Brickadiergerard! That's exactly what I was after... Why wait for the new minifigs. I built the Batmobile way before I purchased Batman and Catwoman. I say Go for it! Quote
B Rick Posted November 25, 2013 Author Posted November 25, 2013 Thanks laigingsxis, It was not the model of the car that was challenging ...it was the small ammount of bricks... ;-) Quote
snaillad Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Very cool. Excellent job for your first official moc! Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Excellent Batmobile 'B Rick', you even have right Batman to drive it too......Bat-Brick On 'B Rick' ! Quote
jimmynick Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Well done, B Rick! The Batmobile looks groovy in that lime green colour. Quote
adotnamedstud Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Very cool, B Rick! As many others said that lime green is just GREAT! Quote
Robianco Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 The shape is nailed! As much as I, and many other like the lime green, I'd love to see it in the classic red! Quote
Luke Styer Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Gorgeous MOC. I agree that the bright green substitution doesn't get in the way of recognizability. I don't know how workable it'd be in terms of parts, but a single color build in say red or blue, with slightly fewer greebles, would make a beautiful car for a City display as well. Quote
B Rick Posted November 27, 2013 Author Posted November 27, 2013 Thanks again guys! Really appreciating the comments and critics. :-) Gorgeous MOC. I agree that the bright green substitution doesn't get in the way of recognizability. I don't know how workable it'd be in terms of parts, but a single color build in say red or blue, with slightly fewer greebles, would make a beautiful car for a City display as well. Hope someone attemps building this same model using dark red. I don't think I will anytime soon. I don't have the bricks and I'm ot eager to online ordering of bricks. Indeed, this car and my hearse are way to big for in a City or modular display... Making a smaller version would be too hard to pull off... To me, at least... This model has some particular key-parts that I just can't see being substited in something smaller... But I'll dare you (or anyone) to give it a try! Quote
Only Sinner Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 This is still my first favorite Batmobile. It looks really good in that lime green, too. I have a soft spot for custom cars and this one is just wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing! Quote

B Rick Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 (edited) One disappointement though... When I was done building these cars and when I got my first modular it was very obvious that eventhough all of it is minifig-orientated they don't 'fit' well together... Ofcourse the hearse was ment to be with my haunted house. Although the house is much bigger than the original it still isn't big enough to park the hearse next to it. Just look at the cars 'standing up'. Allmost as tall as a building... (former Petshop heheh... ) Edited December 4, 2013 by B Rick Quote
gazumpty Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 aww despite their size comparison (which is quite funny) I love your MOC work here. Its a cool looking machine in lime green!! Quote
B Rick Posted December 9, 2013 Author Posted December 9, 2013 Hahaw, thanks gazumpty. Glad you like it. Maybe someday I'll try a 7stud version of those cars to better fit the modulars... Quote
B Rick Posted December 29, 2013 Author Posted December 29, 2013 Hmmz... I stumbled upon a 'copy' of my Batmobile. So if Anyone was wondering how it'll look in red instead of limegreen check out BRICKMASTA's build HERE. What do you guys think? Quote
Tijger-San Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 I'm not sure if it is permitted to make a huge topic bump like this but I just wanted to let you know that I find your Batmobile awesome! Your modified sign on the pet shop also made me laugh out loud. Quote
B Rick Posted March 24, 2014 Author Posted March 24, 2014 I'm not sure if it is permitted to make a huge topic bump like this but I just wanted to let you know that I find your Batmobile awesome! Your modified sign on the pet shop also made me laugh out loud. Hahah, why wouldn't it be...? Such a rule would only benefit those who have seen it already, but new members are joining everyday. It would be a shame if some posts didn't got seen just because it's prohibited to bump it once in a while to give a builder some credit/advise/compliments/critisism. I am a freshly converted afol and I really like to show my appreciation to builders and builds that have inspired me and my builds eventhough the posts are several years old. For newbies it's one of just a few ways to get to see awesome builds that have been around for a while. That said, my batmobile isn't that old... ;) Oh, and you laughing out loud when seeing my shop front gave me a big smile... :D But I have to tell you that I cheated a little bit: I had to squeeze a tiny piece of paper between two loose tiles because it was imposible to 'build' them in. To do lettering this way is really hard to pull off, and I don't think it is possible to do a complete alphabet this way. So hats off to the original designers that came up with this way of building! Thanks for the bump and the kind words. Quote
