WesternOutlaw Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 I was just thinking about Batman and Spiderman Lego themes thinking how much better Batman was over Spiderman. I think that it would be fair to say that Batman theme far exceeded the popularity of Spiderman. The Batman sets were much better in addition to including some great villain figs. But what other superhero theme could out do Batman? Any thoughts? Just something to ponder about. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted April 5, 2007 Author Posted April 5, 2007 Duck Dodger! - not a big fan. I never really cared for Donald Duck or the other ducklings. Is Batman the best superhero? I don't know. What about Superman? or perhaps others? I use to like Green Lantern as a kid, and Aquaman too. Quote
Athos Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Superman probably wouldn't cut it as a full blown line. I'm not sure there are enough set ideas. X-men might work, but has a similar problem. As to the rest, the superheros just aren't that widely known. Steve Quote
ApophisV Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 A Spider-Man theme based on the comics would be great! Other than this an Avengers theme including Cap, Iron Man and thos classics, maybe with some additional subthemes including other teams, e.g. the West Coast Avengers, the Yougn Avengers, and so on... *wub* But X-Men would be great too, I can imagine a great Xavier Institute similar to Hogwarts Castle build from modules... :'-) This brings me some idea for a MOC! X-D Quote

Vader Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 The X-Men would have the best chance as others have stated, but i would love a Hulk theme. Hulk was always chased by the army so a hulk with army sets would be fantastic *wub* Quote
Darth_Legois Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 i wouldnt mind Super Man but like batman better Quote
Vader Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Yeah! *wub* Is that your Apo? If so its beautiful *wub* Quote
The Shredder Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 What about a full blown Justice League one? Quote
aayla-secura Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 What about a full blown Justice League one? yeah would be great! ----> or Ghostrider! Quote
Lord Thrawn Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 I think before we go into other heroes we need to examine different Batman, like Batman Beyond (my personal favourite). But I think a Justice League theme would be exellent. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted April 5, 2007 Author Posted April 5, 2007 What about a full blown Justice League one? Excellent idea. Instead of a single superhero, a group of them to battle evil villains. Quote
Starwars4J Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 The problem with that, though, is that it would be hard to pick out which villains to minifig-ize. Even with the relatively few number of Batman villains we're having people complain about the lack of certain villain MF (Harley Quinn), so could you imagine when it involves all the enemies of a dozen or so super heroes? *wacko* Quote
xwingyoda Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 But what other superhero theme could out do Batman? I always thought that TLC should take that licence (which would kick Batman out of Gotham) :-P Batman is really a US classic !! Childs in France are not that fanatic about US comics !! Proof, the Batman line is NOT selling !! On the other hand, Nintendo is a worldwide HIT !! Imagine the possibilities 8- Quote
oo7 Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 NOO! Not the Pokemans!!! Ahhh! MY EYES! IT BBBUUUURRRNNNNSSS!!!!!!!!!! *sing* On the other hand; 8- Quote
Brainbox Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Let's be honest, if you start to venture into other superheroes, you really have to go all out and do everyone major. I suppose you could kind of do a DC line and (wishful thinking) a Marvel line, and do maybe one or two sets per character, maybe with battle packs as well, covering major heroes and villains. For example, for DC: Superman vs. Lex Luthor Justice League watchtower (include a few villains) Titans Tower (include a few villains) Wonder Woman vs Cheetah Green Lantern vs Sinestro Superman/Batman vs Batzarro/Bizarro (I *wub* Bizarro) etc. And for Marvel: Avengers Mansion (or Tower) Iron Man vs Mandarin Baxter Buyilding (with Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom) Ghost Rider vs a few demons Xavier Institute Spiderman vs Venom/Carnage etc. Obviously, they're just quick lists to give you an idea. I would really love to see a Justice League (in fact, with the proposed film you never know) and the Fantastic Four. Invisible Woman in Lego... *wub* Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Superman!!! Or Captain America or Ironman, or even... These guys: X-D And they arn't from a movie! J/K -ZotS Quote
blueandwhite Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Not another Superhero line. Batman works well only because the character is so dependant on vehicles that they have become ingrained in the Batman mythos. The Batmobile is as iconic as the character himself. The same can't be said of most other heroes. The one other line that might come close is the X-Men with their mansion, jet, and Sentinals. Of course, dollars to Mega Bloks that this won't happen as there is no way Mega Bloks is going to give the Marvel licence away. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted April 6, 2007 Author Posted April 6, 2007 What an awesome MOC. That's really nice. Quote

You never heard from the Spider-Mobil, eh? :-P Besides, the Avengers could offer some Quin-Jets, The X-Men the X-Jet (A Blackbird... *wub* ) and finally there is the Fantasticar! :-D Quote
Brainbox Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 and finally there is the Fantasticar! :-D No need to laugh, I like the Fantasticar. You could also have chosen from the Sky-Cycles, the Pogo Plane or the numerous craft the FF use for travel inside the Microverse and the Negative Zone. And possibly the classice ICBM, U-Car and Fantasti-Copter... And if we're discussing vehicles, there's also Wonder Woman's Invisible Jet (a whole set of trans-clear pieces... *wub* ) and Blue Beetle's Bug. There's also the Supermobile, used by Superman when he was temporarily depowered! :-P FF On! Quote

Honestly, Batman has always been about the toys. Without superpowers per se (the guy does seem to be pretty durable though), much of the focus has been on his tricked-out vehicles and hideout. Other heroes may use toys as well, but they hardly are a fixture in popular culture the way Batman's many vehicles have poven to be. I'm not sure if most LEGO fans would gravitate to a line where the only desireable feature are the figs themselves. Fantasticar indeed |-/ . Quote
Brainbox Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Fantasticar indeed |-/ . What is wrong with the Fantasticar?! I quite like it. Quote
