Blakstone Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Let's have an elimination tournament for dream LotR sets. Alcarin had asked which set would people chose if they had to only chose one: Balrog v Witchking. That is an easy choice for me but let's expand it to all sets we are still dreaming for LEGO Lord of the Rings. There is no need to make these sets detailed proposals or even list the minifigs proposed. I think it should just be the basic concept. Examples would be Balrog, Treebread, Witchking, and Lothlorien. Voting for each round will be open for a week. In each week's thread, feel free to post proposed sets or screenshots from the video game. We just cannot get very detailed in the actual poll. Please nominate sets in this thread and when we have enough ideas I will build the brackets. Quote

The Architect Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 I have to say, I believe Mount Doom will be the most wanted. Quote
Deathleech Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 I really like this idea. I think we should save the best for last though. Obviously a Minas Tirith set is going to beat out a much lesser one like the Watcher in the Water. I think the tournament should start with the smaller and lesser seen stuff and build up to the stuff everyone has been clamoring for on these forums. So for starters maybe do... Watcher in the Water vs The Prancing Pony Lothlorien vs Mount Doom Something like that? Try to put sets head to head where the results will be close? Quote

Blakstone Posted December 22, 2013 Author Posted December 22, 2013 Deathleech, I had been thinking of more of a March Madness tournament where I would have 32 sets the first week and the 16 winners would face off the second week. However, your approach sounds good too and it would last more than a few weeks. Thanks! Quote

SheepEater Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 (edited) 1) Eowyn and Merry vs Witch King on Fell Beast 2) Faramir with Gondor Soldiers at Osgiliath ruins 3) Siege of Minas Tirith: gate and fortress wall only. Includes Gothmog 4) Treebeard Encounter I'd say Bree/Prancing Pony too, but this set is close enough and can be modded. Edited December 22, 2013 by SheepEater Quote

Sigolf Brimabane Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Both versions would be even more preferable. Aye :D A set with Galadriel would be cool... Like, a Swan boat, Galadriel, Sam and Frodo (only because he HAS to be there...). They can throw in an elf, Celeborn and Boromir too :) Quote
Blakstone Posted December 23, 2013 Author Posted December 23, 2013 Éowyn. (preferably an armour version rather than a dress version...) We will have both Edoras and the Witchking Dream Sets appear in the contest. Right now, I am trying to decide if this week's winner should face off with another battle pack next week or something else. Quote
LegoPanda Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 when all the voting's have been done, you could do a winner of each week voting, so in the end one would be left Quote

Hammerhand Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I haven't seen this suggested yet, but I would love a Warg Riders Attack set, with riders of Rohan vs Warg riders. The characters could be Gamling, Aragorn, Riders of Rohan x2, Snaga (the warg rider's leader), and 2 generic orcs. Horses could be a brown one and maybe a new gray one. Aragorn and one rider of rohan would be un-horsed. Wargs (x2) could be a new black one, and the dark brown one from MEA. The builds would be some landscape with a small "cliff" similar to the ledge in the Hobbit Attack of the Wargs. If it had to have a play function, you could catapult Aragorn on to Snaga/Warg. That would be my ideal set, other than a Gondor army builder. Quote
Blakstone Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 Good suggestion. I would probably just use the set title of Warg Battle Pack. This way everyone can determine what they think is in the set for themselves. Quote
