Wedge09 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Hi all, today I'd like to present my first MOC for the 2014: A ruined bridge in the swamp. For the architecture style I was inspired by Erebor and Dol Guldur's architectures from the film The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug; I like them and I will use them again in the future. Thinking about Dol Guldur, I tried to build a ruined bridge sinking in a swamp and I think it came quite well. As a part of DoH program, I'd like to claim: 1 credit for trees (the tree on right, taken from Derfel Cadarn's guide to build a medieval village), 1 credit for studs up rocks and cliffs and 1 credit for Geography: Swamp. Enjoy! Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I like the leaning section! Are the frogs watching it sink? ;) Quote
CardinalBricks Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Oh wow! I never would have thought of using colored frogs as poison dart frogs! It's so simple! Great job, btw. Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Nice architecture for the bridge. I would have put more vegetation on the bridge, not much but some, maybe just some sand green or olive green, like if there was some moss on it. And it's always after a picture has been taken, cropped, photoshoped, and posted online that we see there is some blue inner parts showing Quote
mrcp6d Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Fig-less! And I like it! Nice job on the lean. I wish there was a better way to make the seam with the swamp water disappear. I can't come up with one though Quote
soccerkid6 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 The trees look great, simple but effective Neat bridge design too and the swamp plants are excellent Quote
LegoPanda Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 looks great, i love the leaning effect of the bridge Quote
gedren_y Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 UoP DoH +1 for all claims. I was a little iffy about the tree claim, but I rechecked DC's tutorial to be sure of the technique you were referencing. There just wasn't a good angle to show off that detail. Quote
Niku Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Always been a fan of your bridges, and this one really pops out with the swamp color, maybe it could be added a little more of decay to the bridge including some variation to the color, just like in Helms Deep, but still is a good construction. I like the variation of the frogs. Quote
Emma Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 This is a nice clean build - lovely colour choices. You also used old and new grey bricks together very effectively, not always an easy thing to do. I also think it would have been nice to somehow cover up the bottom of the leaning bridge - maybe with some more swamp plants. Quote

Beautiful moc Thanks Gunman Fig-less! And I like it! Nice job on the lean. I wish there was a better way to make the seam with the swamp water disappear. I can't come up with one though Thanks mrcp6d About the seam I tried but I didn't come up with anything good, it is a point I want to try for a better result The trees look great, simple but effective Neat bridge design too and the swamp plants are excellent Thanks a lot soccerkid6 looks great, i love the leaning effect of the bridge Thanks LegoPanda Moruth I presume? I can't understand what you mean, sorry Beautiful! I love the green! Thanks Carson Haupt UoP DoH +1 for all claims. de Gothia Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Great colours, great angle on the bridge and great moc!!! Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Wow! You did a awesome job on it! Quote
Erynlasgalen Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 The colors are excellent in this, the lime green with the two greys works really well. UoP: +1 for studs up rock and Geography swamp, I think you really hit those two well. I would liked to have seen more than just one tree, or a little more vegetation in order to give the credit for the other claim. Quote
Gideon Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I like that broken bridge a lot, and those colorful (poisonous?) frogs are a very nice addition as well UoP: +1 for studs up rock and Geography swamp, I think you really hit those two well. I would liked to have seen more than just one tree, or a little more vegetation in order to give the credit for the other claim. Agree, +1 for studs up rocks and for the swamp. Quote

Kai NRG Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Creative idea, and good work with the bridge angle! It turned out really nice on the lime green! I'll give you +1 for the studs and swamp too. Quote
