Lord Vladivus Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 (edited) All along the base of the Rakath Mountains, near the passes, stand ancient towers that used to collect tolls from travellers entering Nocturnus. Many have fallen into disrepair in recent times. Lord Vladivus has sent General Fenrir Bloodcloak to start restoring the towers to aid in protecting the rest of Nocturnus from the Black Spire. Allied with half-orc nomads from the plains, the mission is proceeding swiftly. The tower. A captured Shraliek, suspended in a cage above a dangerous flesh eating plant. General Fenrir's half-orc allies. ........................................................................................................................................................................................................ My entry to Category B. The half-orc allies would've been my tribe for the Category C build if I'd had time! C+C welcome! Edit: Credit to Legonardo and kabel for the Shraliek design. Gunman Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 A captured Shraliek, suspended in a cage above a dangerous flesh eating plant. i like this xDD good job! Quote
kabel Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 definetely your best moc so far! nice tower and an especially great irregular base! And the captured Shraliek is of course absolutely awesome. Good to see more and more people are using them, seems they will play a key role in the conflict. Way to go! Where's his fish though? Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted January 13, 2014 Author Posted January 13, 2014 Thanks guys! @kabel, it's there, in a barrel on the top of the tower! Quote
Lord Butters Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 The plant is a great idea. I also really like the uneven base. I think it adds to the general feel of the terrain that a clean, straight-edged base would not. I also enjoy the small detailings around the tower, such as the loose bricks and thin, brown trim. I don't recognise the half orc bodies. Are they PotC pieces? Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted January 13, 2014 Author Posted January 13, 2014 @Lord Butters, thanks! And the half-orcs, they're from the Lone Ranger theme, Tonto and Red Knee. In the Commanche Camp. Great figs! Quote
Erynlasgalen Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 The irregular base really gives the MOC an extra something special, it fits really well with the damaged tower. I'll have to check out those Lone Ranger figures, they look really great for Orcs. Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted January 13, 2014 Author Posted January 13, 2014 Thanks, I got the idea because they're the same colour as the Gundabad Orcs. But they're superb figures all on their own. Quote
mrcp6d Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I like it. It has the feeling that it's at the edge of the desert. Why is it hovering though? Nocty get some floating rocks? Quote
Yooha Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Good Shraliek crossover. I love when you use each other's caracters, makes Historice more coherent. Are there some better pictures of the General - or in other MOCs that I missed? Quote
de Gothia Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Nice entry! I really like the cage! You are improving fast and I agree with kabel, this is your best so far! Keep it up! Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 Thanks guys! @mrcp6d Residual magic from the elemental attacks? Haha, I hadn't noticed, I think a couple of the larger plates I used are a bit warped. @Yooha It certainly is a good idea- I find it tricky, as a lot of people's figs I don't have the parts for. With regards to the General, there aren't any pictures of him in his current outfit, but it's essentially the Lone Ranger torso and legs, with Uruk-Hai armour over the top, and a CMF werewolf head and hairpiece, plus a red cape. He carries an axe and Boromir's shield. Quote
synbiote Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 like the texturing on the tower ncie & full of action :) Quote
Torgar Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I really like your half-orcs, and the tower is your best moc yet! Great job! Quote
ZCerberus Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 The irregular base and your bases in general are quite excellent. What this tower really needs is some height, but for a small tower, it is excellent! Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 Thanks guys! Seeing as the half-orcs have proved popular, there might be a chance of them starring in their own MOC sometime soon- maybe a tribe style thing (ala the competition, but obviously a freebuild). @ZC regarding the bases, I looked at what Legonardo did with his, and initially tried to copy them. It didn't work so well, but what I've learnt is that the less you think about the shape, the better they turn out. As long as you think about the colour composition, it's something that looks quite effective. It also adds some more organic shape to a medium that's inherently quite angular. I agree about the tower, I'd have liked to make it 1.5 times the height it is now, but I'm making do with a relatively small collection. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 The irregular base looks great as does the path to the tower I like the little wooden section over the tower entrance and your cage design is excellent Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 Thanks! I had the cage sat around, and I was waiting for a build to use it in! I initially tried to attach all of the bars to the modified plate, but the droid arms don't allow that, so I had to settle for a few, and it worked out better, as it looks slightly more ramshackle this way. The wooden section was originally going to be a bivouac for the half-orcs believe it or not, but I ran out of room. Quote
Gideon Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Nice entry! My favorite parts are the figs in general and the cage over the plant You've also done a great job with the ground. Probably your best MOC as far as I can recall, keep it up! Quote
Thomas of Tortuga Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Nice work on the tower and the irregular base! Quote
