Long ago, before the wizard Revolword, before the wars and elemental monsters, a young man travelled to Nocturnus.

He climbed and trudged across low hills in the heat of the day. The red rag tied round his head became damp with sweat as he laboured over one rise, then another.

Only once the sun was inching down over the horizon did the man begin to thread through scuffs of dust and rubble. Pressing on, ruined walls lay scattered all around, tufts of grass thrusting through cracks in the stone.

The crumbling, ancient walls loomed higher and higher. He struck a light to ward off the darkness. There was no straight path any more - piled stones blocked the path forward, twisting and turning. It was a maze. No, more than a maze. The Kel’ra labyrinth.

He could barely see over the walls, now. Ahead a forked junction, and the glimmer of torchlight that was not his own.

“Hello?”

A wet, heavy breathing emanated from around the corner.

“Is someone there?”

Then the minotaurs lurched into view, shaggy-haired and laden with slabs of muscle.

Riddle.

A low, ominous voice, dark and bestial.

The young man turned and ran.

Thanks all for the positive comments :classic: This took a surprising number of grey bricks for its size  It also made me think a bit about camera perspective - I tried focusing on the front for the "running" shot.

The young man is Kelstro, my sigfig and future Master of Riddles. His story will continue in future builds! (so death isn't on the cards just yet  )

Good job with the story writing, I like the scary labyrinth feeling you managed to create here :classic:

The last shot is very good, even though I think it would have been even more improved using a more scared minifig face.

As Gideon remarked, a face showing a bit more scare would have been more appropriate, but good work nonetheless! The walls have a great texture there, and good work on the story!

A tip about your photography - it's a good idea not to use flash as that produces a lot of glare as it reflects off the bricks. If you have the flash set to automatic it's a good indicator of when you need more external lighting, but it's almost always a better idea not to use any pictures that do have flash!

Thanks - I'd been experimenting with and without flash, and see there is a fair bit of reflection, especially on the base. Will find a way to bring more light into the photo area next time.

Flash is fine if you have some way of making the light more dim (like a softbox). I use flash all the time (since natural light isn't in abundance here in Sweden in wintertime) but I never point the flash straight at the build, instead I bounce it off a white roof which then acts as a kind of a softbox.
