Murdoch17 Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 (edited) Here is my new 2014 version of the Island Racer: It now seats two people, has a movable windshield and a spare tire located on the rear. It is 100% build-able. It was mostly inspired by my brother's MOC: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/383615 LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1402585647m.lxf (re-typed from my other thread) Also, If anybody wants more Johnny Thunder - type vehicles, or just some older automobiles, look here: 1920's MOON The MOON Motor Car company lasted from 1905 until 1930. Here is the link to the Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia....Moon_automobile This is not based on a specific model, but more or less the style of 1920's luxury MOON automobiles. The MOON Motor Car company was based in St. Louis Missouri and built cars from 1905 to 1930. However, they did not get the very complex finances straightened out until 1965! This model was inspired by the works of Bricktrix, whose Rolls Royce Phantom Mk II inspired me to build the chassis of his car into the model you see here. Link to the Bricktrix original: http://www.flickr.co...157622854792681 1930's Gangster Sedan Built from set #7682 (Shanghai Chase) and modified with modern parts to give cleaner, more streamlined look. The rear features a rear inspired by the yellow car in set 10200. (Custom Car Garage) 1930's Roadster Look familiar? It's the same as the one in my Market Street Bakery 10190 MOD. I included it only because it fits the bill of a vintage car. 1931 Ford Model AA truck Everyone may have heard of the Ford Model T and maybe it's successor, the Model A. But here is something you may not know: The Model T and later Model A both had trucks made from the basic principles of those cars. They were called the Model TT & Model AA, which is where this Lego model comes in. It is based off a Ford Model AA truck. I built this model from set #10222, Winter Village post Office. Link to the Model AA wiki page: http://en.wikipedia....i/Ford_Model_AA 1930's German Automobile This model was made from Indiana Jones set #7622, Race for the Stolen Treasure. It now features a roof and proper windows. I consider this the civilian version of the one in the set. The rear also has tail lights, which were not in the original set. 1940 AEC Regent III This is my double-Decker bus. It is based on an Associated Equipment Company (AEC) Regent III. This bus is missing one part: the stair case in the rear. I based this model off the 2003 version of the Knight Bus. I even added a proper staircase, which isn't in LDD. Here is a Bricklink picture of it: This bus type is famous for being the basis for the purple Knight Bus in the Harry Potter "Prisoner of Azkaban" movie. In real life service, this bus type was built from 1939 to 1954 and used until the late 1970's. It was usually painted red or dark green, but I decided on reddish brown for this MOC just to be different. Here we can see the support for the stairs off to the rear of the bus. The roof and second floor of this bus are removable, even though no mini-figures can sit in the drivers seat and only one figure can fit per row of passenger seats. Here is the link to the Regent III wikia page: http://en.wikipedia..../AEC_Regent_III (I know the the Regent III usually had inside staircase, but the prototype did originally had an older outside one, and that's what I'm going with.) 1944 Jeep Built from Indiana Jones set #7628, Peril in Peru. I don't think I modified this one that much. 1920's Roaring Roadster This car was made out of a desire to made a car using LEGO Western pistols as pistons. I think I did a reasonably good job! Tail lights and spare tire, that's all you'll find back here! Bessie (Doctor Who) This is based off the Doctor Who car Bessie. (I don't know the original prototype or it's model year, so just called it "Bessie". Rear of the car features tail lights and a spare tire. Bessie even has a page at the Doctor Who wiki: http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Bessie Sinister's racer (the older version) & Thunder's car are also included in the file (see below). Rear view of the two cars. Murdoch17 Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 (edited) Sorry for not posting for so long! Island Racer (2014 redo) This updated vehicle is based on the 2000 set number 5920 (Island Racer) and this MOC by my brother: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/383615 It now seats two people, has a movable windshield and a spare tire located on the rear. It is owned by Lord Sam Sinister and is 100% build-able. Rear view showcasing the spare tire. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1402585647m.lxf This part is from 76010: Batman: The Penguin Face Off and will be for Lord Sam Sinister. Link to Bricklink: http://www.bricklink...?P=973pb1646c01 It should go with a flat silver hook instead of the right hand. (it's actually his left hand) He also should have a cape and black or dark bluish gray legs. Unfortunately, his face hasn't a recent counterpart, but the Orient Expedition (2003) one should do. Treasure Raider Based off of set 7622, Race for the Stolen Treasure (2008's Indiana Jones theme) this is a better version of the Treasure Raider that I made a couple months back. This vehicle is for Johnny Thunder and features a spare tire, and head & tail lights, plus a good old adventurer favorite: the classic two seat piece from way back in 1998. The rear features a sloped trunk, which is way better than the open platform of the original Indiana Jones set I was inspired by. LDD file: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1404178315m.lxf EDIT: I have since updated the LDD file,so it looks a little different now in order to bring down costs. sorry! Murdoch17 Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 (edited) Sinister Mansion backstory: Built in 1910 - 1911, Sinister Manor is one of the last surviving houses in the Edwardian Style of architecture in Ironwood county. It was built by Lord Gregory Sinister for his family, and features one addition not usually seen on Edwardian houses: a automobile garage. The house was left to Gregory's family, (his son Sam Sinister & his sister Alexis Sinister) upon the elder Sinister's death of a stroke in 1913. Sam Sinister went on to serve in the British army in World War I, losing his left hand in the conflict and replacing it with a iron hook. When he returned from the conflict Sam set about continuing his fathers tradition: collecting treasure precious artifacts, through legal and illegal means. The collection was stored in the Attic of the sinister Mansion until it became too large and was moved to a more secure (and secret) location, rumored to be somewhere in the mysterious Monster Realm. Gary The Procrastinator Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Wonderful work in a favorite old theme of mine. I was so happy to see Johnny Thunder in the new LEGO movie. Quote
Murdoch17 Posted August 11, 2014 Author Posted August 11, 2014 (edited) updated Sinister Manor: Front side of the Manor. The studs on the front wall are supposed to have printed tiles spelling out SINISTER. The house is surrounded by a stone wall 6 bricks high, and is topped by 1 2/3 bricks of wrought iron. The wall features only three ways of entry: 1) Double-wide iron gates towards the garage (this gate is for the Sinister Family Automobile) 2) Through the two main gates towards the front of the house. (this is used by the Sinister family friends and "business" partners) The third entrance is via a crumbling wall on the left side of the property. This is the emergency exit, and is only to be used when in dire need of escape. The attic used to contain all of the "acquired" items and "borrowed" artifacts the Sinister family has accumulated over the years. All of these items have since been moved to safer and more remote location. The second floor is where the master bedroom & study are located. The first floor is where the living room & kitchen are situated. Off to the right you can see the inside of the family garage. After the Orient Expedition of 1924, Lord Sam Sinister's Island Racer was seized by Soviet (Russian) forces when Sinister tried bribing his way onto the Trans-Siberian express without the proper papers. Sinister was put on the next train out of Russia without the car. In early 1925 he boarded the Simplon-Orient Express bound for Paris from Istanbul. While in Paris he telephoned the Ogel Motor Car Corporation asking for a newer, faster and more expensive car to be sent to his home at Sinister Manor in three weeks. Sinister arrived at his Edwardian-style manor to find this car waiting for him. It features two seats, a spare tire, a much longer wheelbase and goes 13 miles per hour faster than his old car. If you are wondering why I keep posting potential Sam Sinister automobiles, here is the reason: I wanted to build a updated version of set 5920. (Island Racer) I wanted a new angle on the model, but I also wanted to retain an kind of familiar look to the original set. Flickr user Tom.Netherton1's "Bentley 4 1/2 Litre Supercharged" fit the bill an will be built with the Sinister Mansion. (seen above!) Sam Sinister, Lord of Sinister Manor. Sam lost his left hand in World War I while in the British Army. He later replaced it with a polished steel hook. Murdoch17 Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 (edited) Sorry for the double post! When I started redoing the fourteen year old set 5935, (Island Hopper) I wanted to keep it as close to the original as possible. I kept the nose almost the same as the set, and all I did rework were the engines. As time went by, I reworked everything but the front of the plane, trying in vain to keep it's classic LEGO look. Eventually, I realized it would just be better to use newer parts to rework the nose to a more modern standard. The version you see here was not my first choice. The part I wanted for the nose unfortunately does not come in red yet. (This piece is the one I wanted to use: http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=11293 ) So I went with the next best thing, which is what you see here in this screenshot. The rear of the plane. Fictional background: Built in 1920 by Seaplane Solutions Incorporated for Aero-Sea Cargo Limited, a trans-Mediterranean shipping service headquartered in Alexandria, Egypt. Eventually, the main pilot (Harry Cane) realized what his usual cargo was: stolen Ancient Egyptian artifacts and sometimes even whole mummies in shipping crates. Knowing the Authorities would do nothing unless proof was given as to what was happening, Harry decided to fly his plane straight to the police with a stolen mummy inside. Needless to say, the police took the plane and the mummy and shut down Aero-Sea Cargo Limited. They tried to arrest the hook-handed owner, but he had fled the country. For his bravery, Harry got to keep the plane, and made a new friend: Johnny Thunder who was near the police station at the time of the arrests, looking for clues to a certain Ruby. Johnny went up to Mr. Cane and congratulated him, whereupon they became fast friends. The plane was not used in the search for the Re-Gou Ruby, but was used in the Dino Island fiasco in 1923, when it was piloted by journalist & accomplished pilot Pippin Reed, who latter went to work for Harry Cane at his new shipping company Overhead shot showcasing the elongated fuselage, and longer wingspan. The lane separates into five parts as described here: -The body of the plane -left wing tip -right wing tip -tail -cargo hatch There is an interior, but is not accessible at this time. LDD file for the pane: http://www.mocpages....1408889173m.lxf From left to right: Alexis Sinister = Sister of Lord Sam Sinister. She is completely evil and slightly unhinged while being crack shot with any weapon. She hates Johnny Thunder to an extreme extent after he refused to join Sinister in his diabolical schemes. Last seen on Dino Island escaping to places unknown while the island was sinking. Sam Sinister = Brother of Alexis Sinister, and Lord of Sinister Manor. Sam lost his left hand in World War I while in the British Army. He later replaced it with a polished steel hook which is as cold as his heart. Johnny Thunder = Australian adventurer extraordinaire and friend to all those in need. Met Sam Sinister in 1917 when Sinister was in a field hospital for his hand and Johnny was recovering from slight case of shell shock. They have been against each other ever since then. Miss Pippin Reed = This former lead reporter for Adventurer Times was reporting on a Dr. Kilroy's 1920 discovery of a copy of the Book of the Dead when she met Johnny Thunder at a dig site near Cairo, Egypt. They have been good friends ever since, even though Ms. Reed happens to be an better aviator than Johnny. Jack Hawkins = Friend of Johnny Thunder and former US Naval Officer. Currently owns the Delta Queen coastal steamer and runs a freight shipping company with Pippin Reed as chief aviator and Harry Cane as lead mechanic. He met Johnny after the Great War's end when Johnny was looking for a way to get home to Australia via the Suez Canal. Not shown: Major Quentin Steele = Former British Army officer (and Sinister's former commander, whom Sinister still hates today) This Monster Fighter lost his eye in 1912 due to a fight with a certain Werewolf, whom he later tracked down and defeated. He has signed on to Johnny Thunder's team to fill in for the deceased Dr. Charles Kilroy after his unfortunate heart attack. Harry Cane = Former British army mechanic and technical / inventive genius. He was snubbed by his fellow mechanics and senior officials for his work on a failed prototype tank during World War I, along with a small zeppelin. He later became friends with Johnny Thunder after the war when Thunder wanted to learn to fly. Mr. Cane is currently running the repair shop end of Jack Hawkins' shipping company alongside Pippin Reed. Edited August 24, 2014 by Murdoch17 Quote

Murdoch17 Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 (edited) Just to let everybody know, I've changed my mind on the Sinister Mansion. Instead of doing a redo of a official set like a lot of other people, I though I'd give Sam Sinister something new and fresh. (well, sort of) Welcome to Sinister Manor, where you will never want to leave! This classic 90's LEGO-styled model was originally built in 2007 by a Brickshelf user named "Widdi". That user uploaded the instructions (seen here: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=249223 ) which I stumbled upon and built / modified in Lego Digital Designer. I added another story for the tower, put furniture inside and worked a attached garage into the structure. I then hinged it like the haunted house, which, believe it or not, This model is significantly cheaper / less parts intensive than my Haunted House MOD. The inside features the furniture from my Haunted House (10228) MOD, including (but not limited to): a Queen size bed, stove, table, phonograph, side table with lamp plus the couch. The first floor I has the living / dining rooms, as the couch, stove, table and other associated items are there. The second floor features the master bedroom with a small balcony on the right side. The third floor is the attic, which is empty. The tower roof (fourth floor) is also empty. The other Sinister cars I built didn't work, so i salvaged what I could and used this car model (Link: https://www.flickr.c...157645296530432 ) from Flickr User "Tom.Netherton1" to create the car seen here. I have since built the car but am waiting on cash for the house. Here are the cars (fictional) statistics: Model Name: Ogel MK III Configuration: two seat Engine Class: V8 Designer: Lord Ogel Build Date: 1925 Builder: Ogel Motor Car Works Current Owner: Lord Sam Sinister Length: 21 studs Width: 6 studs Height: 5 bricks Top Speed: 88 MPH The LDD file is available for the house, with the car included: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1410206618m.lxf Edited September 23, 2014 by Murdoch17 Quote
Murdoch17 Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 (edited) The Delta Queen, history and statistics: The Delta Queen was built in 1910 by the Octan Company for transporting supplies and empty oil barrels to it's many Oil refineries and pumping stations on the African coast. In 1914, World War 1 broke out and Octan's Egyptian properties were seized by the British for use to the war effort. This seizure included the Delta Queen, which was partially sunk in a 1916 accident in the Mediterranean. The ship was considered a loss and Octan was payed for it's replacement at the Great War's end. The wreck was bought in 1919 by a former US Naval officer named Jack Hawkins. He brought the ship up to the surface, repaired it, and started a business sailing cargo and customers around the Horn of Africa. He befriended adventurer Johnny Thunder during the 1921 search for the Re-Gou Ruby while looking for work in Alexandria. Johnny kept in touch with Jack, whom eventually helped Harry Cane (pilot extraordinaire and another adventurer friend) build a car for Johnny after his beloved automobile, the Scorpion Tracker, was lost in a sandstorm. They dubbed it the Treasure Chaser and gave it to Johnny after the Orient Expedition was over in 1924. Ship Name: Delta Queen Engine Type: coal with two propellers Vehicle Configuration: cargo boat Vehicle type: Coastal / river (flat bottom) Designer: Octan Fuels Company Build Date: 1910 Builder: Octan Fuels Company Current Owner: Jack Hawkins Length: 10 studs Width: 6 studs Height: 14 bricks (top of funnel) Top Speed: 15 knots (17 MPH) Rear view. Friend of Johnny Thunder and former US Navy Officer. Currently owns the Delta Queen coastal steamer and runs a freight shipping company with Pippin Reed as chief aviator and Harry Cane as lead mechanic. I built this ship from two Adventurers sets: I used the boat from set #5975 (T-Rex Transport) and modified slightly to resemble set #5976 (River Expedition). The ship features a boiler, steering wheel and a metal-looking smoke-stack using column pieces in black. LDD file: http://www.mocpages....1411502094m.lxf Edited September 23, 2014 by Murdoch17 Quote

Murdoch17 Posted September 27, 2014 Author Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) Wow. These are really good. Imagine them with actual bricks!!! Thank you! I already have the Ogel MK III, (the car that is in the newer Sinister Manor) and Johnny Thunder's tan Treasure Chaser. I also have all the figures I need to start adventuring, including Alexis & Sam Sinister, Pippin Reed, and Monster Fighters (same universe as Adventurers to me!) Major Quinton Steele In Real Life . I plan on adding Jake Raines to my figures as a former student of Johnny's that's gone missing, plus I'm saving up for the parts for Island Hopper and the Sinister Mansion. Once again, thank you for the compliment! Edited September 27, 2014 by Murdoch17 Quote

Murdoch17 Posted October 18, 2014 Author Posted October 18, 2014 (edited) Adventurers Back-stories (up to 1925) THE BAD LORD SAM SINISTER Brother of Alexis Sinister, and Lord of Sinister Manor. Sam lost his left hand in World War I while in the British Army. He later replaced it with a polished steel hook which is as cold as his heart. ALEXIS SINISTER The sister of Lord Sam Sinister is completely evil and slightly unhinged while being crack shot with any weapon. She hates Johnny Thunder to an extreme extent after he refused to join Sinister in his diabolical schemes. Last seen on Dino Island escaping to places unknown while the island was sinking. SENOR PALOMAR This South American crime lord is an associate of the Sinister family. He helped Sinister try and get the Sun Disk from the Amazon jungle, before losing it to Achoo, the ancient guardian of the disk. After that adventure, Palomar has fallen out of favor with Lord Sam Sinister, but he hopes to be in his good graces again soon. THE GOOD JOHNNY THUNDER Australian adventurer extraordinaire and friend to all those in need. Thunder first met Sam Sinister in 1917 when Sinister was in a field hospital for his hand amputation and Johnny was recovering from slight case of shell shock. They have been against each other ever since then. MISS PIPPIN REED This former lead reporter for Adventurer Times was reporting on a Dr. Kilroy's 1920 discovery of a copy of the Book of the Dead when she met Johnny Thunder at a dig site near Cairo, Egypt. They have been good friends ever since, even though Ms. Reed happens to be an better aviator than Johnny. MAJOR QUENTIN STEELE Former British Army officer (and Sinister's former commander, whom Sinister still hates today) This Monster Fighter lost his eye in 1912 due to a fight with a certain Werewolf, whom he later tracked down and defeated. He has signed on to Johnny Thunder's team to fill in for the deceased Dr. Charles Kilroy after his unfortunate heart attack. HARRY CANE Former British army mechanic and technical / inventive genius. He was snubbed by his fellow mechanics and senior officials for his work on a failed prototype radar during World War I. He later became friends with Johnny Thunder after the war when Thunder wanted to learn to fly. Mr. Cane is currently running the repair shop end of Jack Hawkins' shipping company alongside Pippin Reed. MIKE At sea with his parents on a steam ship when he was 10, Mike was separated from the rest of the survivors when he ship wrecked on the reef surrounding Dino Island. He lived on the island for 7 years, before being rediscovered and returned to civilization by Johnny Thunder in 1923. He has since become a valuable member of the Adventurers Team as their resident survivalist and animal expert. CAPTAIN JACK HAWKINS Friend of Johnny Thunder and former US Naval Officer. Currently owns the Delta Queen coastal steamer and runs a freight shipping company with Pippin Reed as chief aviator and Harry Cane as lead mechanic. He met Johnny after the Great War's end when Johnny was looking for a way to get home to Australia via the Suez Canal. THE MISSING (no picture) JAKE RAINES After defeating Amset Ra in Egypt in early 1923, the former army buddy of Johnny Thunder went missing in a mysterious storm while heading for England. It is believed he was heading for England to request Thunder's help with finding the legendary Poseidon's Sword located somewhere in the Bermuda Triangle. It is not known if Raines survived or not, despite extensive searching by Captain Jack Hawkins & aviator Harry Cane. The stories I write follow these guidelines based on official LEGO themes, including: Monster Fighters, Pharaoh's Quest, and the Adventurers sub-themes such as Dino Island, Jungle, Egypt, and Orient Expedition. The timeline goes something like this: Desert Adventurers: Summer to late fall 1921 Jungle Adventurers: Spring to summer 1922 Dino Island Adventurers: Nearly All of 1923 Orient Expedition: Winter 1923 / 1924 to Summer 1924. Monster Fighters: 1920 Pharaoh's Quest: 1922-23 Other themes / ideas may have inter-play in there eventually, such as tie-ins to World War One. Murdoch17 Posted January 23, 2015 Author Posted January 23, 2015 New Cars! 1921 Classic Automobile - Senor Palomar Senor Palomar, (the notorious South American war lord and ally of Lord Sam Sinister) drives this very expensive car. The vehicle is almost all white, features a V8 engine and it's enclosed cockpit seats only one person. Senor Palomar is mostly recently engaged in finding the Hand of Midas (This artifact is able to turn anything - or anyone - to solid gold when it is touched by the Hand of Midas) and he is doing so not because of Lord Sam Sinister, but for his own evil desires. Lord Sam Sinister is naturally furious, and wants revenge... but to do that, he may have to do the unthinkable: Join forces with Johnny Thunder & friends to defeat the madman known as Palomar! LDD file for this fancy 1920's roadster: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1422037333m.lxf 1923 Roadster - Jake Raines This vehicle was purchased in 1923 by Jake Raines after his original dark red version was destroyed by a rampaging sphyinx during the Pharaoh's Quest adventure. The car features two seats, a six cylinder engine and high-power headlights. The car was most recently used in late 1924 after Jake insisted on going alone to South America to look for a lost treasure called the "Hand of Midas". (This artifact is able to turn anything - or anyone - to solid gold when it is touched by the Hand of Midas) Jake hasn't been seen or heard from since early 1925, and a search is under way led by Jake's mentor, Johnny Thunder.
