LegoSjaak Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Maybe it is fun to make a list of EB-members who own all Modulars including 10190 Market Street...just t see how many people have them all 9...... Well, so i do have all 9 modulars....i even got Pet Shop, Town Hall, Grand Emporium and Parisian Restaurant twice.. to make XL versions of the original.... Quote
astra Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 (edited) I own them all too! Started the moment Cafe Corner was available, bought every modular since as soon as they where available... Edited April 17, 2014 by astra Quote
Legodt Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 I remember the shock and excitment when Cafe Corner first came out. I went out and purchased it the first day it was in the store and I have not stopped since. My collection includes: Cafe Corner: 1 in factory sealed box + 1 used Market Street: 1 used Green Grocer: 1 in factory sealed box + 1 used Fire Brigade: 3 in factory sealed box + 3 used Grand Emporium: 4 in factory sealed box + 1 used Town Hall: 2 in factory sealed box + 1 used Pet Shop: 1 in factory sealed box + 1 used Palace Cinema: 1 in factory sealed box + 1 used Parisian Restaurant: 1 in factory sealed box + 1 used Quote
Seehas Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Do bricklinked Market Street, Café Corner and Green Grocer count? Came out of my dark ages too late for them ;-) Quote
Ophrys Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Unfortunately I left the dark ages too late and I missed the three first sets (CC, MS and GG), and they are currently too expensive for me, but I have all the remaining ones. I nevertheless built a MS but by changing the main colours (orange instead of blue) in order to decrease the price of the required inventory. I bought 3 TH, one for building the model, the both ohers for having parts for mocs, and I bought 2 GE to do an XL model. Quote

timmyc1983 Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Well I too was too late out of my dark ages to own an original copy of the first three modulars. However I have brinklinked version of Cafe Corner, Market Street and Green Grocer, so if they are included I do indeed own all 9 modular buildings, just one of each Quote
mrpoindexter Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 I have all 9, with multiples do everything other than the first three, which I bought used and didn't want multiples at current market prices. I suspect you will find a lot of people with all 9 of them... Quote
toorayay Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 I have all but Parisian Restaurant, which I'll pick up when I have space to display it and time to build it. Quote
kinggregus Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 I am a proud owner of all of them :) I think they were the sets that really got me back into Lego and convinced me that Lego was for adults as well. Before that I was purchasing small sets just for fun. I remember lurking on the lego site on a daily basis for quite a while before deciding to make the move and buy cafe corner, market street and green grocer all at once. Since then, I am hooked. Pix Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 I've all nine, I'm lucky man? bah, I don't know...but I spent more money with these Modular. Quote
stepkar Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 I was in the dark ages when the first 3 modulars came out. I bought the last 6 new from Lego and rebricked the first 3 Quote
rollermonkey Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 (edited) 7/9 including a bricklink'ed GG. FB was already retired when I came out of the dark ages, so I've moved quickly. :) I may BL CC someday, but I find MS horribly unattractive. Edited April 17, 2014 by rollermonkey Quote

I remember lurking on the lego site on a daily basis for quite a while before deciding to make the move and buy cafe corner, market street and green grocer all at once. Since then, I am hooked. Modular Layout by Kinggregus, on Flickr I also came to a point where i simply had to buy all three older ones.. Market Street, Cafe Corner and the Green Grocer......it was a large investment, but now i'm satisfied...haha...! I've all nine, I'm lucky man? bah, I don't know...but I spent more money with these Modular. I think a lot of EB-ers will consider you to be a Lucky man having all nine... but it is just where you spent your money on.. my modulars are of greater value than my car.....! ...... damn you got a lot of money to buy them and DAMN you got a lot of money sitting there with current market prices..... but unfortunately for me i missed the Cafe Corner, i got the others, AND i don't consider Market Street a modular *let the flame war begin* because for me it just doenst look right as a modular Ah Stefano, as you are dutch as well, you should point to the Dutch Market Street as being a modular as well.. look at the way it is constructed...modules.... look at the sidewalk...it was made to fit the other sets... so, i'd rather count 9 modulars at the moment, instead of 9... 7/9 including a bricklink'ed GG. FB was already retired when I came out of the dark ages, so I've moved quickly. :) I may BL CC someday, but I find MS horribly unattractive. I think there is no other set that creates so much controverse in whether people like it or not... I see it as just one of the nine modulars.... Maybe that is because i'm from the Netherlands and Market Street is rather Dutch.....! Do bricklinked Market Street, Café Corner and Green Grocer count? Came out of my dark ages too late for them ;-) Ah yeah, they count..why not.. standing on a shelf, next to each other, no one will notice whether it is bricklinked or Original....!! Quote
LegoSjaak Posted April 17, 2014 Author Posted April 17, 2014 I sold my one and only GG. :p Maybe you should put up a club of ex-owners... i think, they will need mental help..... Quote
rollermonkey Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 It isn't the Dutch look of MS that bothers me. It's the thinness of the building compared to it's height that stands out most to me, but the short, squat, mostly-black market portion also looks ugly in combination with the blue/tan building. I actually thought the market part was a junkyard or graveyard the first several times I saw it. Then you add the relative lack of depth, front to back of the building and it starts to look even sillier to me. Cap that off with the completely unfurnished interior and horrible stairs-in-the-middle layout, and it just gets worse in my eyes. Someone recently posted a modular MOC of their childhood home, and I thought if he'd changed the colors to blue/tan, it would have been an excellent substitute for MS, especially with a tiny bit of tweaking to give it more of a dutch flavor. One of the biggest improvements over MS was the fact that it used more of the baseplate front to back. Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 (edited) While I don't have all 9... yet. I am only missing the Parisian Restaurant and Town Hall. Plenty of time to get them. All where bought new starting with the Fire Brigade, although I have another used/built FB along with the first 3. Give me a couple months and I'll be able to join, lol Edited April 18, 2014 by LEGO Guy Bri Quote
KringlesBricks Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I have all 9; but, I only bought one of each. Yea...I could've bought 2 of each just to have one out and the other boxed;, but, I couldn't afford to have all that money just "sitting" there where I'd rather spend the money on other sets besides modulars Quote
LegoSjaak Posted April 18, 2014 Author Posted April 18, 2014 I have all 9; but, I only bought one of each. Yea...I could've bought 2 of each just to have one out and the other boxed;, but, I couldn't afford to have all that money just "sitting" there where I'd rather spend the money on other sets besides modulars Thats how i like it.. i must admit, in the beginning i thought of collecting extra, boxed sets...just to earn some money on them later.....but i chose to use the money for other things instead... i'd rather live now than have a lot of money later! And boxed sets are Always in danger, in my home, because when i would have a weak moment, i would unbox one.... There are several sets that i bought boxed, played with and later sold them for twice the money i paid for them.. like the Maersk trainsets... i bought 6 or 7 sets and sold the loco's separate as well as the truck and the minifigs... i ended up with 3 loco's and 10 cars with 20 containers.. I decided to put it on sale for an insane amount of money and after a week the whole train was sold for the price i wanted..... apparently some people are crazy enough to pay lots of money...like myself when i bought the Cafe Corner, Market Street and green Grocer in one deal, 2 years ago! Johan the Yellowhead Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 (edited) I currently own all modulars, with only Market Street bought via PaB. Since the last year I have started to collect several modulars double, a blur which started when a 50% sale on all Lego sets was in one of our toy stores. In the store itself only the standard sets were on display, but on the web shop of the said store several modulars where available! So then I bought PS and FB again, and Tuesday I ordered a second GE on the Lego shop because of the double VIP-points and the expectation it will be withdrawn. They will be for sale later on or, in case I might win the jackpot, for MODDING... Edited April 18, 2014 by Johan the Yellowhead Quote
ronenson Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I only recently started with modulars, so I'm currently O3M instead of OAM. Quote
cimddwc Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 When I fully "de-dark-aged", GG and CC were available; I liked GG better, so I bought that, planning to get CC for Christmas - only to find in or around September that it was discontinued, so I quickly got it on eBay for just a little over its original price. And then got MS for a similar price for Christmas... So, yes, I got them all. Some of them modified, though. Well, most of them, actually. :) Quote
