Cecilie Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I have made some additions to my Fabuland village, and this is how I displayed it at my LUG's annual event (På Kloss Hold - PKH) last weekend. A little botanical garden. Narrow track train. Although I couldn't run it during the show, as it would just derail on the curves Still experementing a bit with the water techniques here. The windmill is supposed to run, eventually... More pictures on flickr, although most of them are from my previous time displaying it (but most of the buildings are the same as then). Quote
jodawill Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Wow! Everything is fantastic. I wish I could see this in person. I think it needs a little more depth on the ground, though. The mountain is cool, but the grassy areas need some small hills. Quote
Legogal Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 This is flat out adorable! Congratulations! Quote
Cecilie Posted April 30, 2014 Author Posted April 30, 2014 That's amazing! I love the windmill. Thanks Wow! Everything is fantastic. I wish I could see this in person. I think it needs a little more depth on the ground, though. The mountain is cool, but the grassy areas need some small hills. Yeah, I know ... It's still a work in progress, and I had hoped to have time for some more landscaping before this event, but alas... Next time! This is flat out adorable! Congratulations! Thanks Quote
CopMike Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 x 5! Fabuland so rules! You done great expanding on the layout! Still experementing a bit with the water techniques here. The windmill is supposed to run, eventually... Experementing ? - you´ve nailed it! Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Friends animals used as a Fabu-babies? BRILIANT! Quote
Cecilie Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 Train FTW! Thanks . Too bad I couldn't get it to cross over between the curved track and straight strack without derailing. Stupid Lego for not making straight narrow train track x 5! Fabuland so rules! You done great expanding on the layout! Experementing ? - you´ve nailed it! Thanks Mike! Experementing, because I'm using something like 3 different techniques on the water streams there, trying to figure out what I like best I guess it's mostly about finding ways to hide the technic pins holding the trans clear beams together, and look natural as falling water. Friends animals used as a Fabu-babies? BRILIANT! Yeah, they're perfect for it! Quote
emilstorm Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Those Fabuland figures always remind me of my kindergarten, nice memories Very nice town lay out and landscape! Quote
Lady K Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 This is so very cute! I love it! I noticed the flowers in the botanical garden are still attached to the little plastic piece in the middle, how did you get them placed so perfectly? Quote
Cecilie Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 Those Fabuland figures always remind me of my kindergarten, nice memories Very nice town lay out and landscape! You had Fabuland in kindergarten? Lucky you This is so very cute! I love it! I noticed the flowers in the botanical garden are still attached to the little plastic piece in the middle, how did you get them placed so perfectly? Thanks . Ah yes, the flower technique. I rarely remove flowers from their sprue anymore, so much more fun to work with them like this. This technique is really simple, I just take 3 sets of flowers on their sprue and attach one flower from each to a flower stalk. Then I attach another flower stalk to another flower from the groups, and attach more flowers to them again, and sometimes join two sets with two flower stalks, to get a more curved effect. Just try it out and play with it, you'll be making flowery trees in no time . Quote
emilstorm Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 You had Fabuland in kindergarten? Lucky you Yes, I was indeed that lucky But i think they only had a few figures and a scooter. At least that is all I remember, it has been a few years Quote
Chocolatecake Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 The waterfall looks really great, it does looks like it's falling and the windmill is floating in the air. Quote
Lady K Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Cecilie your a genius!! Thank you so much for you flowering technique! I tried it out on trees and bushes of varying heights and my landscaping looks so much better. Now my Japanese garden will be much prettier for Brickfair VA 2014! Quote
Cecilie Posted May 13, 2014 Author Posted May 13, 2014 The waterfall looks really great, it does looks like it's falling and the windmill is floating in the air. Thanks I'm not super happy with the waterfall yet myself, but from a distance it looks pretty ok... Cecilie your a genius!! Thank you so much for you flowering technique! I tried it out on trees and bushes of varying heights and my landscaping looks so much better. Now my Japanese garden will be much prettier for Brickfair VA 2014! As much as my ego likes to be called a genius , I cannot take credit for this technique. I originally saw it on some perfect geodesic dome trees in someone's flickr stream (I can't remember where or who anymore...), but I since adapted it to less perfect shapes, for a more natural look. Good luck with your Japanese garden . This flower technique is really perfect for Japanese flowery gardens (and that's what I used it for the first time as well ) Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 (edited) Well done! It has a very whimsical design to it, and the floating windmill and the rocket are excellent finishing touches. Edited July 15, 2014 by Lind Whisperer Quote
___ Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 that windmill holding by a waterfall is great - quite surreal in the core, haha Quote
