Norro Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Hey all, I'm putting this message up on a few forums and hunting down old emails to see if there is enough interest for an Irish Lug... I know there are a few emerald islanders on EB so please respond... Been back home for a while now and have noticed more and more fellow Irish fans of lego appearing online. Thought it might be time to ask around and see if anyone would be interested in starting an Irish lego users group. Due to the limited number of us, the scope wouldn't be that big, more of a cure for oversees LUG envy. But if there's enough interest I'd love to be involved in some form of something ; ) If anyone would be partial to some lego based craic give me an email and will try and get a vague list going.... Thanks a million and God Bless, Nathan Todd greenbrickland[NOSPAM]scape@dublin.com 'Norro' Generally found building castle related MOCs on Lugnet, Eurobricks, and Classic Castle... Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Well I guess it depends on the feedback Norro! Which doesn't seem too good so far, to be honest :'-( Quote
Jipay Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 mmmhhh... Maybe a little frontpaging couldn't hurt... Quote
snefroe Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 btw, just out of curiosity, does this also include Northern Ireland ? if i were you, i'd just set it up, get the network going, in time people will respond. maybe you can contact Lego Ireland as well, surely they can spread the word also Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 I don't think there is a Lego Ireland. Quote
UniqueBuilder Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 I don't think there is a Lego Ireland. There's even a LEGO Norway. Then it gotta be a LEGO Ireland.. X-D [/sarcasm] You know.. Those you call when you have a missing piece or something.. 8-| Quote

Well I guess it depends on the feedback Norro!Which doesn't seem too good so far, to be honest :'-( I've been contacted by three people so far, with me that is four. Plus someone else possibly moving to Dublin as well... Although the EB feedback has not been so good... btw, just out of curiosity, does this also include Northern Ireland ? Yes it includes Northern Ireland (I'm from there originally, and so are some of the people who have responded) You'll be pleased to know I'm Irish. Of course ;-) God Bless, Nathan Quote

lostcarpark Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Count me in! That makes five I've had a vague intention of forming an Irish AFOL group - if I ever found any other Irish AFOLs! Don't know why I didn't think of posting here. By the way, I'm pretty sure there is no Lego Ireland. We have to call the UK for customer service. I think the population of Ireland is a lot smaller than that of Norway. Quote

lostcarpark Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 I stand corrected on the population front. There still is no Lego Ireland. Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 So, whats the story??? Happening or not? Quote
lostcarpark Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 I'm game, anyway. I'd be more than happy to help out with web design/hosting too. Quote
lostcarpark Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Nathan emailed me to say he's in the middle of moving house, hence things have gone a little quiet, but he'll email everyone next week. Quote

Norro Posted July 14, 2007 Author Posted July 14, 2007 Hey all, procrastinating/working aside I just emailed this out: Greetings all,I'm contacting you about forming an Irish Lego User's Group (lug). the fine print (which allows me to sublet your home ; ): You're receiving this because you emailed/PMed/responded to an online post... What we'd like to do is get an Irish lego group together, I know we are a small and diverse group, with some preferring collecting and some who prefer building, but I'd love to get us all together for some lego based craic once/twice a year with the possibility of growing from there... The basic proposal: to start us off we could meet for a drink/meal in one of the cities (probably this autumn) and share our love of the brick. If you know anyone else interested please pass this on... About the langer who wrote this: I'm a long time lego fan/builder living in Cork but attending Uni in Belfast (so any of the 3 cities suits ; ) who maintains a fair lego web presence on Lugnet, Eurobricks, and ClassicCastle... my gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?m=Nan Please give me a shout: greenbricklandscape @ dublin.com God Bless, Nathan If we can drum up a few more that would be great! Hope to see you all soon! God Bless (yes again!) Nathan Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Did anything ever happen of this or was it a trick call? Quote

Norro Posted June 19, 2008 Author Posted June 19, 2008 I'm back seeking the world's best, the Irish that is. Just sent round a circular: Hello all,After being contacted by several people I'm once again sending around a note about forming an Irish Lego Users Group. I was too over run with work to pursue this as I should have last year, but am hoping now to give it a good run now. Blanket apologies ; ) The fine print (which allows me to sublet your home ; ): You're receiving this because you emailed/PMed/responded to an online post... Essentially I would like to organize a get together, probably for some pub grub, where we could meet, put a face to names, chat about lego, and discuss where to go from there... I'm located in Cork and Belfast (long story), so any of the major cities would suit. Anyone who would be interested in attending a meet up some time in september please email me you're preferred city (Dublin will most likely be the evil compromise). About the langer who wrote this: I'm a long time lego fan/builder living in Cork but attending Uni in Belfast, who maintains a fair lego web presence on Lugnet, Eurobricks, and ClassicCastle... my gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?m=Nan Please give me a shout: greenbricklandscape @ dublin.com Thanks and God Bless, Nathan If you're interested please let me know! rriggs Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 I'm a Wexford man but now living in Hertfordshire courtesy of my English wife!! I'd definitely be interested in joining and being involved with an Irish users group but meeting up in person would be difficult as I'm an expat (no pun intended ). Cheers Rog Quote
