Duke Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 31b Sorry the photo is so big! H.M.S Endeavour Photobucket Gallery Endeavour because it was a better attempt than the Indi! (I'm still lacking sails and masts, i'd like to make it a dual masted vestle but i think i'll have to get some from Ebay.) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 27, 2007 Governor Posted May 27, 2007 Fear not Duke, we have a Tutorial which teaches you How to Perform a Batch Image Resize so you can shrink your images down in seconds. Quote
ZCerberus Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 We can also do Thumbnail links too! Looks like I have managed to guess your naming scheme! You can learn about how to do thumbnails in posts by clicking this underlined, bolded text! Quote
zouave Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 You've done a great job on the Endeavour. *y* It's quite a step up from the Indi.Your skeleton king on the front is really cool. Can you put figs down with the cannons? Quote
Duke Posted May 27, 2007 Author Posted May 27, 2007 Thanks, i could but the deck is so small that I couldnt fit on a staircase! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 27, 2007 Governor Posted May 27, 2007 We can also do Thumbnail links too! Well I'll be blown! That was fast! Did you resize the image too? Quote
zouave Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Thanks, i could but the deck is so small that I couldnt fit on a staircase! My figs fit in with my cannons but I never considered building a staircase.I don't think I could make one fit.I may try a ladder. Quote
ZCerberus Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Well I'll be blown! That was fast! Did you resize the image too? I may have assisted. Good job Duke! Anyways, I thought I should say something about the ship itself! I see a capstan, some swivel guns, two decks and a nice stern castle there. This is a great second MOC! I would still advocated sloping in the back as I suggested in the Indi thread. Keep up the good work and keep us appraised of your progress! Quote
El Bucanero Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Looking good Mr Duke! Was it the HMS Endeavour from POTC III wich inspired you to build this? Mr Tiber Quote
Duke Posted May 27, 2007 Author Posted May 27, 2007 I would still advocated sloping in the back as I suggested in the Indi thread. I did take this into consideration but i found that i had used nearly all of my sloping bricks on the gunports and couldnt see an easy solution for making it slope. Instead i made the cabin protude a bit. Was it the HMS Endeavour from POTC III wich inspired you to build this? Argh, I haven't seen POTC III and i didnt know there was a ship called Endeavour on that :-(. Quote
oo7 Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Indeed a very nice improvement over the Indi. The inclusion of the many slopes makes a much better ship. It's good to see you've used a wagon wheel in the helm, that's what I did 'back in the day' too. :-P Great progress! *y* Argh, I haven't seen POTC III and i didnt know there was a ship called Endeavour on that :-(. The Endeavour appears in Dead Man's Chest too, but it's definitely more prominent in the third. Not only that, but you've captured the ship's exact color scheme too. But don't worry, the world's finest space administration has a ship of the same name. X-D And you could always change the name also, if you care to do so. Quote
El Bucanero Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 The Endeavour appears in Dead Man's Chest too, but it's definitely more prominent in the third. I believe that's the Dauntless mate... Mr Tiber Quote
oo7 Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 I believe at the end of DMC Norrington delivers Jones' heart (in the chest) to Beckett aboard the Endeavour in a compromise to earn back his naval career. That might be about it... Quote
Scouty Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Norrington gives the heart to Beckette on a building in Port Royal, not on the Endeavour. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted May 28, 2007 Governor Posted May 28, 2007 I may have assisted. Good work laddie *y* Was it the HMS Endeavour from POTC III wich inspired you to build this? AARGH!!! A spoiler! You've ruined the movie for me again Mr Tiber! X-D Argh, I haven't seen POTC III and i didnt know there was a ship called Endeavour on that :-(. So what inspired you to call it the H.M.S Endeavour? Actual history maybe? :) Quote
Fender Bender Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 according to wikipedia there has been a number of ships in the Royal Navy with the name Endeavour through the history. One of them actually matched mr. Duke's vessel quite well in size and armanent :) Wikipedia article Quote
Duke Posted May 28, 2007 Author Posted May 28, 2007 Well if i'm honest i just thought, now what shall i call this ship. Ah endeavour. *y* Quote

Fender Bender Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 (edited) actually I think the second sounds like the closest bet. However, I don't know much about bomb vessels so I might be completely wrong on this one... basically i just skimmed the article and noted that there were a few smaller craft with the name, which might have led me to draw a hasty conclusion in my previous post |-/ Edited May 29, 2007 by Fender Bender Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 4, 2007 Governor Posted June 4, 2007 Perhaps the Duke could provide the answer for us... Quote
Duke Posted June 4, 2007 Author Posted June 4, 2007 Erm, i don't know. I didnt suggest that it was any of these ships. I just made it up! Quote
