Davidbarrena Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Back with another AoM MOC. Another "everyday life" scene, this time for the phase I of the Store subcategory. Market day in the Blackbear clan lands is never peaceful. The market guards always have something to do, and if the lampmaker has the "good" idea of burning the lamps so the customers can appreciate his craftmanship...well, another day in the market Hope you like it. C&C are (as always) welcome. Regards, D. Quote
Scaevola Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Heh. On another note, I actually like this scene immensely! The vendor with the burning lamps all over his table is a humorous addition as is the two dwarves running over with the vessel of water. Quote
Thomas of Tortuga Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Nice little scene. For the amount of building you needed to accomplish the story, I think a smaller scene might have worked out better. That way, you could focus your energy and pieces into building a smaller, better-quality scene. The angles on the tree look nice, as does the path, but the latter seems to end rather abruptly. Finally, the use of the round corners is a good addition, and makes this whole scene seem more polished. Quote
Davidbarrena Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 Thanks everybody for your comments. Glad you liked it (If you cannot impress them with your techniques, at least make them laugh ) haha nice :D good job with the tree! Thanks. It is the only part in the display that it was not straightforward to build (for me), and took some attempts to get a (more or less) natural aspect., BTW, the (admittedly fragile) tree broke a couple of times during the build, when trying to adjust the leaves. Does anyone have any advice to avoid this problem? Nice little scene. For the amount of building you needed to accomplish the story, I think a smaller scene might have worked out better. I'm here to learn, and this is very helpful. My next build (already in progress) is more focused (although I'll still put some dwarves here and there to spice the scene ), and has a couple of more complex (for my beginner level) techniques that I hope will give it a more "finished" look Regards, D. Davidbarrena Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 I haven't seen a final date, but even if it is finished, I think I would use the list of categories as inspiration! Quote
MassEditor Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Nice little scene David, very amusing! That tree in particular is well done, and the fellows running to put the fire out. You know, I was in a candle shop once (yeah, some still exist) and they had a bunch of the candles lit. I just knew that was going to be a bad idea one day. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Cool market stands and your tree looks pretty good I also like how you have the dwarves carrying the water tipped forward so it looks like they're running Quote

I'm finding that posing dwarfs (most of my sets come from the hobbit line , so I have a good number of them ) to get a "dynamic" look is quite difficult because of the fixed legs, but in this case, being able to use the cauldron as an anchor ended with a better result than I initially expected. Ecclesiastes Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Nice one, a bit of humor is always good. And a solid phase one build, especially the market stand. Looking forward to see phase two! Quote
