TechnicSteve Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Ever since I got the Technics Go-Kart set 854 at age 9 I was hooked on it! It was so different to 'ordinary' Lego, and really brought out the engineer in me. I received more sets for Christmas and birthdays until I had quite a good collection, and was always coming up with inventions of my own. I recently had the opportunity to relive that fascination and I've started collecting these sets again. I now own about half the Technics sets from 1977 to 1987, and I'm keen to add to my collection to complete it. The only trouble is, I don't know what I'm going to do when I have completed it! The only set I'm having real trouble with is 852, the original helicopter. I've seen a few available but they always have something missing or a damaged box. All of my collection is totally complete, including the plastic compartment lids. Another tricky find is 858 Auto Engines, which is near impossible to find in the UK version. If anyone has either of these in good condition I'd be happy to take them of your hands. Over time I'll add photos of my sets to this thread and offer anyone the opportunity to sell or trade any of their sets to fill in my gaps. Cheers for reading, Steve Quote
Lost_In_Noise Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Pics? Please use Bricklink for selling parts, I don't think they like advertising much here. Good luck on that 858 though, you can read my review if you like. There's an overview of the cost vs part-out there. Quote
TechnicSteve Posted June 2, 2014 Author Posted June 2, 2014 I'm trying to upload pics but I only have an allowance of 2.7k! Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 You need to use a external hosing site like Photobucket or Flickr. Quote
emilstorm Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 You need a hosting sit for your pics, i recommend bricksafe.com, very easy to use and very fast to sign up And I recommend resizing your pictures to 768x1024 (i think thats the numbers ) before storing them there Quote

The description says it's in perfect condition but obviously that's something you'd need to check for yourself. Here's the link: http://m.friday-ad.co.uk/bristol/for-sale/hobbies-leisure/hobbies/lego-technic-8857-TT214HE14#CTuVgj224l0hRrZr.03 Hope this helps. Edited June 3, 2014 by grum64 Quote
TechnicSteve Posted June 3, 2014 Author Posted June 3, 2014 Thanks very much, I really appreciate the gesture. However, as this is a 1993 set it's a bit out of my current timeline. This little craze of mine is costing a small fortune at the moment, but what I am looking for are the following (all dating between 1977-1987): 852 Helicopter 871 Supplementary Set 856 Bulldozer 874 Yellow Beams 875 Red Beams 876 Blue Beams 877 Steering Parts 878 Piston Parts 879 Gears/Chains 858 Auto Engines 8848 Power Truck 8030 Universal Set 8050 Universal Set 8846 Tow Truck 1924 Motorcycle 8841 Dune Buggy 8847 Dragster 8851 Excavator 1972 Go-Kart 8620 Snow Scooter 8660 Arctic Rescue Unit 8680 Arctic Rescue Base 8849 Tractor When I have enough posts to be able to use the trading section I'll put up a wanted post in there. I've also got a few spare sets that I can sell or swap, most in great condition. Cheers, Steve Quote
vliet Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 I can remember that I had some of those sets like 854, 8842, 8843 and 8844. Because our house burnt down when I was 12 (in 1986) there isn't anything left from my old Lego technic. There is still some of my old Lego which had only some smoke damage and after some washing was pretty clean except for the white parts. Quote
grum64 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 OK. If I come across any of those on your list and they're in the condition you're looking for I'll pass them on. Quote
Lost_In_Noise Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 If you're looking to buy many sets, you can upload a wishlist to bricklink, and then place several orders in multiple stores, and then tick off the sets you've bought. At least that's what I did when I started collecting a few years ago. I recommend placing big orders( as long as you've got the money to pay), cause it will lower total shipping costs. And make sure the sender marks the goods as a gift or commercial sample to avoid stupid tax laws. Please add photos. It's nice to see a collection taking shape:) Quote
TechnicSteve Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 Thanks all, I really appreciate the help. I may set up a small area of my company website to host my pics, but I've got to find some time to do it. Steve Quote
TechnicSteve Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 I had 5 minutes before I start work. If someone could test access for me outside of my intranet and let me know if it works? http://technic.citrusdm.com/#!home Quote
emilstorm Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Your link works perfectly Some of those pictures bring back pleasant memories Quote
TechnicSteve Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 Good news. Thanks! I'll put more pictures up when I have some time. Steve Quote
Heppeng Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 The only trouble is, I don't know what I'm going to do when I have completed it! Thats easy - you bricklink your way through all the models in the 8888 expert builders book!! Quote
TechnicSteve Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 I've added more sets and made the pictures bigger. http://technic.citrusdm.com/#!album-0 Quote
emilstorm Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 It's a really nice collection, you must have already spent a small fortune on it! I thought the yellow "transformer" vehicle was so cool when I was a kid:) today I would go for the forklift:) Quote
TechnicSteve Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 Thanks emil. I've not spent too much so far but I'm sure I will as I start looking for the more rarer items! The transformer robot was the last set I bought as I thought it was so odd for Lego to make. It's really nice and works well. Steve Quote
