Jeroen Ottens Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Hi, Here is a potential entry for the mini competition. It is a small scaled version of the 42000 Grand prix racer. Features: - Independent suspension on all 4 wheels with a linkage mechanism more or less like the real car - Working steering - Hood can be opened with a mini-LA Part count is 200 exactly. I'm still tweaking the design to get all functions working perfectly. Jeroen Quote
Pluto_MkII Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Wow, the racer looks great! for your independent suspension. Quote
D3K Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Looks great, you definitely managed to get some of the details from 42000 downscaled nicely! Rubber band suspension? Quote
Erik Leppen Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 This one's especially nice looking, well done! The fact that it's a mini of an existing set only adds to its charm. Quote
Milan Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 One of the nicest entries.Everything is great, i just dont like "bonnet" for being so tall, but I see that it has to be that way because of the front suspension. Quote
Zerobricks Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) This competition really brings out the best of you guys! Just dont forget to also build in real life Edited June 8, 2014 by Zblj Quote
Jeroen Ottens Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) Hi, Thanks for all the comments. Yes it is rubberband suspension. Missing parts are on their way to finish it in real bricks. Styling of the nose is going to be my challenge for the coming weeks Edited June 9, 2014 by Jeroen Ottens Quote
Kumbbl Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 wow - there are some really well done minis - but this F1 racer and the waterplane are my favorites until now... couldn't say which one i like better... Quote
EvilEnderman Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Really, really nice. Love the use of the panels to get the styling just right, you've done it perfectly Quote
Jim Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 This is the kind of entry I was hoping to see. Well done Quote
KirTech LAB Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Awesome model! Good luck in the contest!!! Quote
Jeroen Ottens Posted June 15, 2014 Author Posted June 15, 2014 Hi, Next version is designed with a changed nose and an extra function: The spoiler is now adjustable. Parts are still underway... Quote
allanp Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 This is looking great, wonder if you could fit in a pull back motor! Quote
Jeroen Ottens Posted June 15, 2014 Author Posted June 15, 2014 This is looking great, wonder if you could fit in a pull back motor! Hmm, that would be a challenge... especially with the suspension on the rear wheels... and the actuation of the hood... Then again, it would be really cool... , maybe I'll give it a try Quote
Jeroen Ottens Posted June 20, 2014 Author Posted June 20, 2014 (edited) Hi again, And a third incarnation of this model... All functions are still in: independent suspension on all 4 wheels, functional steering (and this time you don't need spiderfingers to use the steeringwheel), the hood can be lifted and the spoiler can be adjusted. Again exactly 200 pieces. Please let me know which version you like best so far. Edited June 20, 2014 by Jeroen Ottens Quote
D3K Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Hands down the last version! The long sloped bricks makes it look a lot sleeker! Would love it if you'd share the .lxf file Quote
