kennywest Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I was going to build a helicopter, but someone is already building one. Then I decided to build a forklift, so I started to build one yesterday morning. Apparently someone on this forum is also building a forklift, so before getting accused for copy-cat, here is the progress I made yesterday morning. I guess we're allowed to have the same ideas Quote
EvilEnderman Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Ingenious use of those curved wheelarch bits (Not sure what to call them) This is turning out really well, keep it up! Excited to see the end result of this! Quote
kennywest Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 Indeed, I'm going for the cuteness prize :) Quote
kennywest Posted June 10, 2014 Author Posted June 10, 2014 Decided to recreate it in LDD to see how many parts I've used already. Here is my WIP Trying to figure out the best way to implement the tilt mechanism for the fork and then I'm pretty much done :) Quote
kennywest Posted July 24, 2014 Author Posted July 24, 2014 More or less finished. This is the digital version: It has the following functions: - HOG steering - raise and lower forks - tilt forks According to LDD this makes 186 bricks (pallet included) Quote
kennywest Posted July 29, 2014 Author Posted July 29, 2014 Now just need to take it apart and take a picture of the pieces :) Quote
kennywest Posted July 30, 2014 Author Posted July 30, 2014 This is the final promotional image: The image was taken on the roof parking where I work, to give it a more or less industrial look. The image was inspired by the old 8843 forklift. These are the parts that were used: I also created an LDD file, to allow other people to build it and to verify the part count: http://bricksafe.com/files/kennywest/MOCs/forklift/forklift.lxf This is the first time I participate in a Eurobricks contest. This is the 3rd MOC I have created and I have enjoyed building it very much. I hope it will please, at least, some of the members here. Looking at the other entries that have entered the contest, chances are very slim I will win this contest. Building a small model seems something I should do more often, given the number of pieces I have. So, thank you for this contest, it has brought me out of the dark-ages again :) Quote
jantjeuh Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 (edited) Very nice forklift! Good design and use of colours, though I would have made the pallet tan. Also, I would replace the steering pulley on top by a trans-yellow technic round 2x2 brick, to simulate a flashing light. Edited July 30, 2014 by jantjeuh Quote
kennywest Posted July 30, 2014 Author Posted July 30, 2014 Thank you very much, for your kind words. I know, it should have been tan, but I don't have any tan plates lying around Quote
