Dfenz Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 At a recent brick.ie exhibition in Belfast, we saw a recreation of the battle of Rorke's Drift, an event made famous by the film Zulu. It was made by our brick.ie member Oiley and it looks like it took a hell of a lot of patience. The straw roofs were made using tan droid arms. ManInATopHat Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 WOWZA! What a build. Massive MOC. Beautiful buildings, great minifigures. Fantastic build, great find! Quote
IvanStorm Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Amazing thatched roofs! I have been investigating various roof techniques for my Green Dragon MOC - I decided that droid arms look the best (I already used them for fences), but are a big investment and a lot of work. This MOC gives me all the courage and motivation I need! Quote
Khorne Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Wow, great use of those droid arms. I've never seen a thatched roof made like that before, but it sure looks good! The use of 1x2's as bricks also lends to the credibility of the buildings. What an awesome build, thanks for sharing . Quote
Brickadiergerard Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Amazing build. Now which one is Gonville Bromhead? Quote
Macsen Wledig Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Wow this is an awe inspiring MOC! Just epic! Quote
MassEditor Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 What a brilliant MOC, thanks for sharing this! Like others mentioned, that roof is phenomenally done. This is such a cool idea for a MOC (I love the movie) and there is a ton to enjoy. Again, those huts cannot be under appreciated. But the wall surrounding Rourke's Drift is so faithfully done with the chests, boxes, wagons and whatever else was at hand built right into the wall. Great work! Quote
Jan_sh Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Love this MOC - really nicely done. And that is a seriously large army. Are those Lego originals? Quote
ElCrab Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Simply awesome, thanks for sharing this with us! Quote
kinggregus Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 This is such an incredible MOC. I think the builder found the exact figure configuration that was needed. The roof technique is so perfect. I think some bricklink stores will receive large orders. Quote
oiley Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Thanks for the feedback,I will get more pictures posted in due course. Quote
Mutant Orc Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Wow, great stuff! It must have cost a bomb to get all those figs! Especially the British soldier's white gear, the flesh heads and all of those PotC cannibal figs!! In fact, everything must have cost a bomb about those figs!! Incredible work! Quote
Adolfo Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Awesome technique using droid arms to make the roof! The all MOC is well done and the minigs shows us a dedicated work. Congrats! Quote
Ardelon Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 A really epic and action-packed MOC, with great figure posing. The roofs are indeed brilliant. Quote
Sir Walter Maugham Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Wow, what a creative use of those droid arms. Quite inspiring. The whole thing is fantastically build. Quote
Legopicler Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Brilliant build, beautifully created. A definite "Stop throwing those bl@@dy spears at me!" moment. (No, MC didnt say this in Zulu, but he should have) Quote
