xbloodyfangs Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 (edited) Well, this is my first real attempt at a space MOC. I'm not exactly a master picture taker, but they're not horrible. Also,it's made entirely from the Mars Mission Recon Dropship and Astro fighter! http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=257048 Comments and constructive criticism welcome! Asuka Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 Hello and welcome, oh thou voyager from Mars! *y* What a neat little rover, looks nice and handy! :-) Quote
iamded Posted June 3, 2007 Posted June 3, 2007 (edited) Cool! I think it's neat. It's like a little transport buggy. Edited June 3, 2007 by iamded Quote
Iron Moose Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 I'm unsure about EB ettiquette, so here goes my first MOC criticism. The colours are (naturally) a perfect fit for the theme, and are used in good proportion to each other. The model fits well into the theme, and I'd not be surprised to see something like it as an official alternate model. However - I feel that the Mars Mission theme tends more towards aerodynamic shapes, and that the tailfin is too high on the model. Longer and lower, as opposed to higher and thicker. I also feel that the canopy might work better opening from the bottom, that the gems at the rear should be better secured, and that there should be something more than the Canopy for the minifig's feet to bump against. Please LMK if this is helpful, rude, or anything in between. Quote

I like how you elaborated on my MOC instead of just saying "wow, that's cool". Quote
john cleese Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 also the placement of the crystals is kind of wierd and almost time-crusiers-esque in its apparent randomness. I like the moc other than that and my general agreement with moose's statements. Quote
Starwars4J Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 This is really good for a first MOC! Though in the future I'd try to use parts from as many themes as possible, very rarely will a good MOC come from just the parts in a single them...but sometimes it pans out X-D First is the cockpit, it's so irregular that it's almost impossible to actually close up! I'd definitely try to re-do it and make it seal completely. The design itself is nice, blocky in a good way. The wheels however look a little small to move this guy around, maybe try to buff them up a bit. What's the function of the crystals in this MOC? Are they a power source, lights, or a thruster of some kind? Also, I have to wonder how the rover captured the alien it holds in the back without any weapons 8-| :-P Overall, really nice first space MOC! You've got to refine a few aspects, but it's certainly a very good start! MOCs are never done, they're always in a state of refinement. Quote

snefroe Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 (edited) it reminds me of the space sets of the mid 90's... :-$ that's not a bad moc for a newbie *sweet* . i like the shape, sure it's not exactly a ferrari, but why would you need that on mars anyway... i would add a printed tile though so this poor boy wouldn't have to use his mind control capabilities all the time to drive the car :-P i'd also add an antenna so the rover can keep in touch with the base and ah yes, some sort of platform attached to the technic beam would be nice as well. that way the guy can take a few samples himself instead of having to call the big guys with the big exploration trucks :-D and some gas tanks or so? supposed this guy has to go out without his oxygene :-X Moc on!! *sweet* btw, i edited your deeplink. next time, copy the deeplink URL, click on the icon with the tree, paste the URL in that window and click "ok"... *sweet* Edited June 4, 2007 by snefroe1 Quote
