On the eve of battle at the Wither Woods, General Phrixelle saunters down to Greenbow to check out the mercenary groups that have gathered to tout their services. To her surprise, she spots a band of centaur warriors being spruiked by the auctioneer. They look fierce and battle hardened, and on hearing that they plan to use their wages to build a new village, she vows that if she can afford the price, they will trample the enemy alongside her and her gaurds.

Summoning the warband leader Leena Thunderhoof to her camp, Phrixelle makes her offer. Two bag of gold stand by the table, alongside a important looking document on stiff legal paper. "These two bags are my down-payment for the services of your warband" begins Phrixelle, "and in addition, should we prevail in battle, return to me and i shall pay you the same again, plus i shall send Peregrinian craftsmen to help you build your village." Phrixelle pointed to the document. "This is my guarantee of payment. If it is acceptable to you, i shall sign, and count you part of my company."

Leena picked up the document and scrutinised it, then turned to heft one of the bags of gold experimentally. She grinned. "It's a deal, knight! I did not think to find one of our kind in the army here, it will be a pleasure to fight alongside you. Give me an hour to muster the rest of the band and return - and then, on my honour, we will face battle together!"

They are brickforge, I believe they still sell them, but the painted ones were only in battle packs last I checked. They went on sale a few years back and I bought dozens of the orange and grey ones... don't worry these won't be the only centaurs at the battle of the wither woods, Petera has acquired a few also. Great MOC, that tent is great.

Thanks everyone! Glad you like the tent, it was a bit of a rushed effort. The palm is a Masa palm, so all plaudits there should be directed to him!:thumbup:

Yeah BF used to sell the painted centaur bodies singly, now i can only see them in packs, unfortunately. All the designs are pretty cool though.

It's going to be really interesting to see just what Petera brings to this party... how much longer now?:excited:

I thought we would have placed units today and got to the first turn, but Dugal has SO many more units that we spent a little time beefing up the other side today and we had company. On another note, we flipped a coin and my brother is controlling Dugal and I am controlling Petera's forces. I think we will at least have a first turn report up Tuesday afternoon.

For example, Dugal's side is 15 pages long, and Petera's is only 8

Wow! I didn't realise that it was quite as lopsided as that.. :oh: Still, as i seem to recall robuko writing once, good, let's clobber 'em! Although i'm sure you gents will throw some twists and turns (as well as augmented opposition) into the mix to keep things interesting. Roll on Tues/Aussie Wed! :sweet:

Nice moc. I like the tent and the sand texture.

Cheers Torgar. :classic:

Nice little scene, I love all the detail packed in here. As mentioned already, that tent is gorgeous. Very cool story and nice addition to the upcoming battle!

Nice! That tent is awesome, I really like it! I also like the way you set up the whole thing, it works great as a war camp. this scene kind of reminds me of Narnia

Great tent. I have some of those centaur bodies as well, but no printed ones. :(

Thanks! Yeah the printing really does add a lot. I guess you could make yr own stickers with yr own designs tho? (Something i've never tried)

Thanks ME! Yeah i wanted to write in a bit of background - i figured there might be a bit more to hiring mercs than just dumping a chest of gold on the ground and saying "right, you work for me now".. It made sense to me that a standard contract would be more a half now, half on completion kinda deal. And the shared heritage aspect of the general and her new troops intruiged me too... if they survive the battle honourably, i imagine a new alliance might be made. :classic:

Thanks LordDan! Yeah, i was going for the war camp feel, glad you like it. I've not read any CS Lewis, sadly, but it's nice to hear that the moc is so evocative for you. :classic:

The tree and the tent are really well put together. Nice one..!

Thanks TenorPenny!

I'm so used to gigantic builds from you that I keep thinking this was built by someone else. But you packed a lot of great details in this small one so this is an excellent build as usual! Thanks for the mention also!

While I have read the books, I was actually referring to a scene in the movie, where there is a large war camp, with tents like these and tons of different creatures, including a centaur general :classic:

Thanks heaps Mike! But of course i have to credit you, it's only right after you have so kindly made the instructions for the palm tree publicly available. :classic:

Ah, i see. I have not seen the film either, and for some reason i'd forgotton that there was a film adaption at all. Maybe i should hunt it down and check it out...

Excellent tent design and the base looks good  I like that you set the table at an angle too :classic:
