MrTekneex Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 (edited) Hello eurobrickers! I am glad to present to you my latest model. It is a front loader compactor truck. The model is composed of approximately 3,000 pieces, with motorized functions and pneumatic system. The 6 motors (2XL and 4M ) control the following functions: - drive (actual speed ratio 1:9, slow to drive cause i wanted more precision for catching of the box) - steering - pump compressors - packer panel / ejector panel - tilting cab - loader arm - hopper opening All functions are RC, excluding the air valve levers that control: - pneumatic forks - tailgate Other functions: - Fake V8 engine - Openable doors - 2 differential - Second axle with 4 wheels Probably in the future I will create building instructions. Here is the video. Some pics Loader arm Full open Edited November 24, 2014 by MrTekneex Changed image to 1024 resolution Quote
Paul B Technic Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Thanks for posting this, you have done an amazing job to fit some many functions in to this model. I tried to build something like this in late 2013 / early 2014, it was no where near as good as this is :) Quote
Rishab N Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 (edited) Really great work! I love garbage truck MOCs as there are not many of them. Also maybe its the terrain but I thought that it was struggling to drive a little bit Edit: Can this be put in the Hall of Fame? Edited July 28, 2014 by Rishab N Quote
Kumbbl Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Wow wow wow! Way cool, Never seen such a detailed garabage truck. Because the instructions of your awesome C model tow truck of 8258 are fantastic i can say right now: if you make BI then i will buy them. Quote
Blakbird Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Magnificent! Great work on an unusual model. Always nice to see some more pneumatics in a new MOC. Quote
jantjeuh Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 It looks awesome! Great job. Can't wait to build it myself Quote
Foggy Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 My god, amazing model with lot of functions! Usually these trucks have the 3rd axel steered, have you thought about doing it instead of the fixed and with diff that you made? And another think, am i wrong or it seems slow at drive? Quote
Zerobricks Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I am really impressed! One wuestion i noticed one function needed manual gearbox control? Can you also motorize that so the model is 100% RC. Quote
Jim Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Wow, this truly is an amazing truck. You have packed a lot of features into this model. I really like the loader and the opening hopper. Your image was 1280 pixels wide though, which exceeds the limit of 1024 pixels. I have linked to a hosted image on my own Flickr account. Feel free to resize your own image and change the link back to your own image. Quote

I am really impressed! One wuestion i noticed one function needed manual gearbox control? Can you also motorize that so the model is 100% RC. What looks like a gearbox are actually the two levers of the valve ;) (one by side) Quote
MrTekneex Posted July 29, 2014 Author Posted July 29, 2014 My god, amazing model with lot of functions! Usually these trucks have the 3rd axel steered, have you thought about doing it instead of the fixed and with diff that you made? And another think, am i wrong or it seems slow at drive? The model who inspired me hasn't the third steered axle. Yes, is slow to drive because i wanted more precision for catching of the box.The actual speed ratio of the drivetrain is 1:9, but using a 8879 remote speed controller and changing the ratio to 1:3 this would improve. I think that 1:3 is perfect, the model for move needs a lot of torque, due to the weight) Quote
MrTekneex Posted July 29, 2014 Author Posted July 29, 2014 To all: thank you very much!!!!!! :classic: :classic: :classic: Quote
Boulderer Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Amazing MOC! Great functions and clean lines. I guess the only question is over the drive. Not so much the speed, from my point of view, but the apparent jerkiness of the motion. I'd still build it in a heartbeat, if I had the pieces! Obviously, the heartbeat would be for decision making not actual build time Great work Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Stunning MOC with great functions and good looking . Quote
MrTekneex Posted July 31, 2014 Author Posted July 31, 2014 Aesthetic and functional. BI, please! This time it will be very hard to make building instructions, due to the amount of the parts (my old pc can't support the rendering) & the presence of the pneumatic tubes. However, I believe that one day I'll make it! :) Quote
MrTekneex Posted August 4, 2014 Author Posted August 4, 2014 If You really like this model you can support it @ LEGO Ideas! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/74392 Quote
Kumbbl Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 one suggestion: Maybe you could mount the cylinders for the tail gate inside... would be a cleaner look... thoughts? Quote
Lakop Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Great model! I can imagine people having fun with that. Love the mix of pneumatics and LA's and it looks great too. H Quote
randomwalk Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I've really been hoping for a functional and realistic garbage truck in the Technic line. This looks great! Quote
barman Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 WOW, this is absolutly amazing Great working model, the functions are all working wonderful and good looks too.I think the best garbage truck I have seen so far. It would make the model perfect is you are able to make de 2 pneumatic functions 100% remote controled by using 2 auto-valves. Herhaps you can use the extra channel for the cab tilt. Cabines are always tilted by hand, so you could simple power the tilt function through a PF switch where a pneumatic switch now sits. Quote
Kumbbl Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 IMHO this unique and awesome built model should become a member of the Hall of Fame... Quote
