cimddwc Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Hi everyone, my latest building features the nice Cool Yellow color and Chima Speedorz turned into trikes for a City. Well, I don't think they'd be allowed in a real city, but who cares in a Lego city. :) More photos, as usual, on Flickr. Closeup on the yard and the sign, two potential customers sitting in the trikes, with costumed and masked clerks around: More trikes and costumes inside: Third and fourth floor contain an apartment. Here, Mom's moving the teddy so she can sit on the sofa and read the papers... ...watched by the true master of the house (as is typical for cats) :) Upstairs, parents' bedroom on the left, and in her room the daughter's brushing her megadoll's hair: ...while Mom (#2) is getting ready for her shift at the fire station. Bathroom on the right. The trikes by themselves: And this is where the house sits in my city. (I really should finish the stickers for the train station (the dark-red+white building) some time soon...) » Flickr album Hope you like it. :) Quote
TheLegoDr Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Very interesting idea. I love the cool yellow color here. Together with the white, it looks sharp. I'm surprised LEGO didn't do a Modular yet in that color. I expected it for the PR, but they chose olive green instead. Maybe next time. I like the shaping of the building and the white trim. It is a bit too tall for my city, but it looks like it fits right in in yours, which makes sense. Keep up the good work. I always like looking at your builds. Quote
L@go Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I agree about the detailing, those are very interesting pieces to use for that. And that round tower is perfect - I love how you've done the transition from round to square on the wall below. Quote
CityBuilder Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 The colours do look very good together. Wonderful modular building combining the world of Chima and the more realistic Lego. Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Cool cross-over idea, great funky looking trikes.....though I wonder if they have an excellent supply of Chi ? Wonderful looking modular too.....colours work well and the interior of the upper floors fantastic. Brick On 'cimddwc' ! Quote
Wodanis Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Very much in agreement with my fellow AFOL commentors here. I love how you've done the building and the colour scheme is sharp. Might have to borrow your rotundra idea. Makes for a classic style building. I assume the yellow is from the friends line? Quote
eurotrash Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Excellent! Great facade and impressive color-combo. And a really interesting interior. Tip of the hat to you! Quote
Kristel Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Love this facade, both in terms of the trims and the colour combination. Awesome interior too! Quote
Redhead1982 Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Amazing building. The colour scheme is the most fascinating, while the architecture of the building is very impressive. I specially like the round corner finishing in an interestingly designed roof top. Interior details are lovely as well, and the inclusion of the chima seems an interesting choice, as I don't see any real value in those parts, however, incorporating them as a sort of adventure type vehicles makes the city livelier. Peppermint_M Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Now there is something to do with those things! The building itself looks very Edwardian and the detail inside is lovely. But the Chima trikes are very clever. Quote
cimddwc Posted August 17, 2014 Author Posted August 17, 2014 Thanks, everyone! I love how you've done the transition from round to square on the wall below. I would have preferred to use the new wedge slope which probably would work even better than the double convex slope here, but that doesn't exist in this color yet... I assume the yellow is from the friends line? Yes. Bright Light Yellow on BrickLink, Cool Yellow is Lego's official name for it. Quote
ZevesdroX Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 That's a really nice looking modular! Love all the details. Quote
Sir Brickalot Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Awesome MOC cimddwc! I like the use of the Hero Factory armour add-on on the side of the building. Great job! Quote
cgarison Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Nice Use of the light yellow bricks. I really like the detail inside the building. Great Work! Quote
eliza Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Great combination of color and details on the exterior. I love the Chima tricycle idea too... it strikes the right balance of realism and whimsy needed in a Lego city. Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 I love the curved part of the building it makes it stand out from the boring square shapes. What part did you use for the white ornament in the frist floor? Quote
cimddwc Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 (edited) Thanks again, everyone! Zblj, that's some Hero Factory armor. Don't know which exactly, I don't know much about Hero Factory... Edited August 18, 2014 by cimddwc Quote
TheBear Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 All your buildings are great and this one is no exception. I would love to visit this place for real with my son and buy him a Speedorz trike. Quote
Superfunk Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 This looks great! I have a WIP in the same colour on my table - it's not easy with the limited parts selection... Superb detailling as always - I looking forward to updates from your amazing city! Quote
Withacee Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Well, I'm not into Chima (that's personal taste), but this building is absolutely lovely. Great colour combinations (always loved the cool yellow), and my favourite part is the building "expanding" between the ground floor and the first floor. Nice part usage on the ornaments as well. Wonderful build. Keep clicking those bricks together, cimddwc! Quote
charly1221 Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 This is just.....amazing Liked the color And like the one up of this comment I'm making: Chima is not one of my favourites But, The building was so cool to make itself better Quote
Legogal Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 It is great to see how so many hard to use parts actually got used here. And bright light yellow was the baseplate color for several of the Duplo playhouses, I think. That means I have a lot of it! And I do like that color and the original light yellow. Both look fantastic in houses with white trim. Congrats on your winning color scheme! Quote
Back to the Brick Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I love the trikes, very good idea! Quote
