vitreolum Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 (edited) Just a quick build I made to get the story moving along. Previous build: https://www.flickr.c...um/14804693520/ After a relatively good rest at The Spanking Troll, Aymer and Cora decide they need to raise some money to start their quest. - Aymer: I told you we should have taken some gold when we left the keep. - Cora: You mean steal from your father, I reckon? - Aymer: The rich bastard wouldn't have noticed. - Cora: Come on, we are not thieves. Let's go find some honest work. - Aymer: I know just the thing we can do with our skills. A gremiln told me there's a guy organizing fights in an arena and the pay is worthwile. - Cora: Yeah, that's some honest work allright! Late at night, in a secluded clearing in the forest... - Announcer: Welcome to the arena ladies and gentlemen! Tonight we have a special treat for you: two legends return to the arena after a two years hiatus: the barbarian duo Vaplurgis and Liongarr. It's going to be a bloody spectacle tonight. - Aymer: Ummm Cora, what the hell is that? - Cora: Must be one of the giant wolves roaming these forests. - Aymer: This is not what I was expecting... - Cora: And what did you expect to find in a shady fight in the middle of the forest organized by that golden tincan, Sir Elfkiller? A chivalrous duel with knights in shining armor and queens kissing the victors? - Aymer: Well the queens part would be nice... - Cora: Shut up and fight! I told you we should find some honest work and this is what YOU came up with. - Aymer: Fine, let's get this over with. Would like to claim credit for: - advanced SNOT (wolf, not sure I got this one right) - minifig posing - battle scene - brick-built animals 1/3 Edited August 28, 2014 by vitreolum Quote
the lego dwarf Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 The stands and the wolf are amazing and the story line is great to i'm looking forward to the aftermath Quote
Bregir Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 I like how you combine several separate builds in one scene.(And they are each brilliant in their own right.) Further, the posing is awesome. Will you enter that wolf in the Mount up Challenge? It's looking good! Quote
vitreolum Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 Thanks! @Bregir Thanks for letting me know, I wasn't aware of that challenge. I will probably make another mount for my characters later, but that will probably be after the deadline so I'll go with this. Quote
MKJoshA Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Amazing all around. I really like the mage staff as a door knob. Is the Santa Goblin the gremlin? Quote
Yzalirk Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Very nice MOCs and I love the position of the arms on Aymer (if he has the two swords), that's awesome! How do you do it? Quote
vitreolum Posted August 24, 2014 Author Posted August 24, 2014 Thanks! @MKJoshA Yeah, that's him, played around with the mask and though he looked funny. @Behemoth Used a rubber band for that, you insert it through the torso and connect the arms at each end. Quote
cesbrick Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Another great build from you Vitreolum! Really like that wolf and the stands and all the little details you put in all your builds and this one is no exception. Congrats. Quote
IenjoyLego89 Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 I really like this. The wolf is class and the minifig posing is brilliant :) well done :) Quote
mccoyed Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 (edited) Amazing build. So much to like here. We don't see a lot of Lego Offical style builds with different elements unconnected by a base, but you present a good argument for the method here. Masterclass minifig posing, too. Very dynamic especially the guy on the ground blocking the spear. That's the kind of action pose you'd see a human do in a movie, and you've captured it well here. Mike S Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Great posing and characters! I also really like how you made the canopy on "golden tincan's" booth. Quote
Kai NRG Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Great job on this, especially with the pose of the guy on the ground, that's a technique I'm going to have to borrow, if you don't mind! Quote
Maxim I Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Hahaha funny storyy!! I really love this moc! The minigig posing is excellent and the expressions are priceless! Quote
vitreolum Posted August 25, 2014 Author Posted August 25, 2014 Thanks! @Kai NRG Sure, go ahead and use it. :) Quote
Gunman Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 The minifig posing you do is great.. I really like the audience also, it looks so funny :) As said on mount up thread that wolf is great! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 You've been making some fantastic MOCs, and this is my favorite yet The stone tower and stands are great Very good battle poses too Quote
Hammerhand Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Great minifig posing! And the stands for the crowd and announcer are nicely done. Quote
Garmadon Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Excellent fig posing here, vitreolum, and great job with the canopy Awesome brick-built wolf as well Quote
Jorrith Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 I've seen that wolf before... Awesome moc and story! Quote
Kai NRG Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 +1 for battle scene, minifig posing, and animals, but I'm not sure I can give you the advanced SNOT. There's a good deal of SNOT work I agree, but it seems to be more on the outside details and not part of the integral structure, plus it's mostly achieved using joints in such a way that they can move around (so the studs could be on top if you wanted to pose it that way). On the other hand advanced SNOT is a pretty broad credit, so if you can tell me what you were thinking, I'm open to conviction! Quote
