The Mountain Wyvern is an especially hardy breed of wyverns that has been caught and trained to carry scouts, and sometimes warriors. Their popularity as a scout mount originates partly from the fact that they tend to be dark colored, so they are hard to see at night, along with them being nearly silent when flying. Training one is a very hard task though, and requires a lot of resources (including a fair amount of gems and gold for the wyverns bed), so they are not very commonly used. But once trained and bonded with a rider, they are extremely loyal, and will defend them to the death.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm not very good at brick built animal after this. Plus I dropped it or parts of it on the floor at least 5 times. And another round of crappy pic from me. :sadnew: I can never seem to get them right, anybody have any advice?

It's very good, actually, and reminds me of Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon.

For your pictures, I'd actually say the first one is not bad though the lighting isn't amazing and you should try to use a larger, curving white board for background. It's hard to find one big enough though. For lighting, someone told me to use "daylight" bulbs and I'm so glad I listened. Coupled with whatever natural light I can get in my apartment, which isn't much, those daylight bulbs have proven invaluable for pics.

As the others have said don't be too hard on yourself..... The wyvern looks great and the posing on the rockwork is really good too.

My advice is, "Don't give up!" I think you have some untapped skill here.

Thanks for the encouragement MKJ. :classic: I don't think I'll give up, though I don't find BBBs entirely fun...

Wow, go big or go home, I suppose! Very nice mount.

Thanks Behemoth, it ended up bigger than I was originally thinking.

For being a brickbuilt beast, it looks good to me. Pretty impressive wings and that tail is pretty awesome!

Glad you like the wings and tail! I decided to give it tail wings to give it more "stability" in flight.

Ha, yeah it does kind of look like toothless now that you mention it! And thanks for the advice on the photography. :classic: I would try to photograph outside, but it's usually just not practical to haul my builds outside, and set everything up out there. I usually set up right under some windows, to get as much natural light as I can, but it just doesn't seem to be enough.

Very neat, the tail and wings are great.

Thanks vitreolum!

Damn that's big! Love the wings!

Thanks mate!

Thank you Slobey! I guess I'm somewhat of a perfectionist, so I tend to be pretty critical of myself.

I really like the wings there... Well done ;)

Thanks Gunman!

Looks awesome! Much better than any animal I can attempt :) love the posing on the rock though well done :)

Thanks man!

Wow those wings! Awesome!

Thanks Hobbythom!

That's great! I love it.

Thanks a lot Carson!

I'd say you should try building brick built animals more often! Nice wings, and the rockwork on the base is also nice! And you are not the only one that makes crappy pics, my digicam is so horribly outdated it takes 30 shots and maybe 2 of them are good enough!

:pir_yoda: You have earned my Pirate Yoda seal of approval, keep up the good work mate! :pir_yoda:

Ha, thanks man, glad I got the seal of approval!

Very nice mount, impressive wingspan and its posing is superb

Thank you Scaevola! The posing was hard, because the wyvern was almost to heavy to support itself, so it took a lot of patience.

Thanks Jorrith! About the pics, at least you have an excuse, my camera is pretty new!

Much better than my brick build animals!!! I really like it :)

Thanks mate! One of my main problems is they tend to fall apart easily, due to my questionable connections in various places...

I think your beast turned out well, the wings and saddle are my favorite parts  I think a bulkier tail would balance the size of the wyvern better than the rather thin one you used.

Excellent pose on the rocks :classic:

Impressive beast! The wings look very nice and I like the end of the tail. I agree with SK however that a thicker tail (especially closer to the body) might have looked more natural.

Oh, Gideon used my words! I was about to use "impressive beast" as well, dang!

But, seriously: I really like it. You achieved a great shape for the wings which is not easy at all and the creature overall looks very believable!

As others already stated, the tail could use some improvements regarding thickness and personally I'm not really fond of the saddle. Looks like a comfortable arm chair without the back which doesn't really fit in my opinion. Other than that: Impressive (and I might quote myself and others with that  )

Thanks Rolli! The saddle was kind of an afterthought, since I originally forgot to incorporate one, so it kind of came out, well, like an armchair! But you know us Avalonians like to be comfortable...

Hey wyvern-brother, pretty sweet build (great minds think alike, eh Hammerhead?)! This beast is of some seriously epic proportions. The overall shape is really nice, really gives a sinister serpentine look to this wyvern. The wings are great too, and the base with the treasure is a nice touch. Good job man!
