Kai NRG Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 A young and hardy mountaineer makes his way down the slope with a load of wood. Back view: Just a quick little build, once again using the overhanging border idea. I'd like to claim UoP credit for logging (Agriculture and Zoology) with this one. C&C more than welcome as always! Aland1916 Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Simple at first but a lot more complicated at second. Great rocks. Quote
Scaevola Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 +1 UoP DoH for your claim. Nice rockwork and fig posing Quote
Yzalirk Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 For a tiny build, I like it. The rock work looks awesome. Quote
grum64 Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 (edited) I love this I can't say I understand the techniques used as I'm not good at this type of build & I really admire those of you that are. With my very limited knowledge I'd guess this it's simplicity is very deceptive. It's simply brilliant  Edited September 1, 2014 by grum64 Quote

grum64 Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 I'm pretty sure it's the SNOT technique, in case you were wondering. Yeah, I knew that but thank you very much anyway. It's the very technique (amongst most others ) I'm really hopeless at. I've been trying to reverse build (I say 'build' as use of the word engineer would imply a level of ability I simply don't have ) an AC Cobra using LDD. It's been VERY slow going largely due to me and partly due to LEGOs illegal building technique rules. I'm now collecting up the parts I know I need and am taking a guess at the rest, I'll then, when I get chance, try building it 'in the brick'. Hopefully I'll have better luck. Thanks again. Quote
IenjoyLego89 Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Rock work is great. Works well for the border :) also it's a nice little scene good job! :) Quote
Gideon Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 (edited) Nice fig and rocks! UoP +1 for logging, although I'm a bit reluctant to give credits for such small builds...this just looks too good Edited September 1, 2014 by Gideon Quote
mccoyed Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 I like the fig a lot. Great rockwork, of course. Quote
Kai NRG Posted September 2, 2014 Author Posted September 2, 2014 Thanks everyone! With my very limited knowledge I'd guess this it's simplicity is very deceptive. It's simply brilliant  Thanks a ton! It is rather complicated and was quite appalling when I first tried to do rockwork like this, but after getting my feet wet, it comes pretty easily! Nice fig and rocks! UoP +1 for logging, although I'm a bit reluctant to give credits for such small builds...this just looks too good Thanks! You're right, it's very small... but thanks for giving me the credit anyways! So I guess it's a case of practice making perfect or in my case, VERY much practice makes something fairly good Edited September 2, 2014 by grum64 Quote
Maxim I Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 +1 for the claim :) I didn't noticed it first there was a square base with overhang :p I think I was too obsessed with the amazing rockwork haha :p Quote
ch_ris127 Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Awesome rock work! It makes for a very interesting and cool looking vignette from afar. I suppose the axe could be handled the other way around though? The sharp edge of the axe could probably slice his arm off if not handled properly Quote
soccerkid6 Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 Excellent rockwork and I like the pose of the minifig My only, very minor, suggestion, is to have the string loop over the fig's shoulder before going to his wrist Quote
Bacon Potatoes Posted September 7, 2014 Posted September 7, 2014 This is a great build! Not only is the rock work great, but you've got a cool fig too. Quote
Kai NRG Posted September 8, 2014 Author Posted September 8, 2014 Thanks guys! Awesome rock work! It makes for a very interesting and cool looking vignette from afar. I suppose the axe could be handled the other way around though? The sharp edge of the axe could probably slice his arm off if not handled properly Ahh... yes, that's a good point! (But it would be harder to balance! ) Thanks! Quote
