Not many individuals still living in the town of Grave Stone remember Tex Grimwell, the old prospector, but somewhere in a cellar below Grave Stone is his story. Old Tex roamed the desert for months at a time searching for the "Mother Load", the largest gold vein in the west. During the cold nights in the desert with a small campfire and the dim light from a kerosene lantern, Tex wrote about his fabulous journeys. The book was hidden somewhere in Grave Stone years ago, but within its tattered yellow pages, Tex tells of his discovery of a lost mine. Some discount his stories as the ravings of a mad man that went crazy looking for gold, while others believe the book to be actual stories of Tex's survival in the desert. Some even say that within the book is a map to the lost mine.

Then there's the question of where Tex Grimwell got the money to buy Sutter's Mill before he perished? Some say it was Jeb Stotworth, his long-time friend who may have poisoned him. But these secrets lie burried in Grave Stone, where few dare to visit... *skull*

this makes a very good "small set" for the GS collection. it offers something unique that the other sets don't have. that is one complaint of mine with many official smaller sets from the 90's, you didn't get anything new (6245/6277 adn 6709/6769 come to mind). so anyway, good job with that !!!

i like the cart. this whole set reminds me of the single character adventurer sets (3021, 5900, 5913, etc...). i like that, a spotlight on the character. its fun.

B, i think i agree with you... at least on this one. the photo background is working better than the official box art imagary. though, with the mexican fort, i like the official box art look better.

I think he looks a lot better that way. More grizzled and crazy.

Also forgot to mention, that's a great name for a prospector...

Although it actually hides the nice torso design, I think I prefer the beard. It just adds to the "prospector-look".

Oh, and BTW, I actually used the design of the Adventurers set with dino as the basis for this cart/wagon.

That's my oppinion, too! The Brickster, you've done a very good job with this small set. It would be perfect as a little minifig set for - let's say - around five Euros. The prospector looks very realistic. Very nice!

Nice small add on adventurer feel. And great too see a small lego set with such a great back story! It really needs to be printed on the box like the old pirate sets...

God Bless,

I like the torso you selected for the miner. What set did you scavenge it from?

It's from Mike's Swamp Boat. I've always liked the torso with the slingshot.

Thanks. That's a good idea if I ever package these sets. It gives me another thought as well.

Nice little set. The minor's cart is neat. But,you need to loose the sextant. (He was lost in the story.)

You should replace it with a book to be his journal.

hmmm... what could you mean by "package" these sets ??? for resale, or just fun for yourself ??? intriguing ;-)

this post has me curious of "It gives me another thought as well", as well :-P
