Oh great. Another page of people slagging off microscale sets As far as I’m concerned long may they continue!

The MOC above is a good attempt and well made but it’s nowhere near as nice as the official model and it doesn’t look as detailed. As for the great hall set being minifigure scale, it’s not. It comes with minifigures and that’s about it. To be true minifigure scale it would need to be far bigger. It’s a good set for kids but the proportions are all wrong. Its good that lego have done the microscale set for those that want a great display and very accurate depiction of the castle, but also done the small playsets for kids and fans of the franchise who want something smaller. Win win for everybody.

Do adults still play with playsets then? Most I see display them the same as they’d display architecture sets and don’t play like say kids would. Its a great lego set. Arguably one of the best ever. I guess myself and people with your opinion won’t see eye to eye on it. But that’s fine each to their own.

Totally agree with this. Personally I think it was overly zealous moderating. If anything the poster who made a personal insult towards the designer should have been reprimanded. But instead it felt like they were being protected and everybody else suffered. Despite no other personal attacks. i guess some people really don’t like microscale including moderators. Oh well water under the bridge I guess.

Nah I don’t believe that to be honest. It’s a protest vote. How anybody can think the set is poor is beyond me. As for having a closed back I don’t see the point unless you are placing it right in the middle of a room and really hate having things with interiors. Having a really accurate fantastically priced model and some interiors is great and I applaud lego and the designer for doing so. i really hope we see more licensed microscale models to be honest

Very surprised anybody could vote this set as poor or below average other than as a protest vote because they didn’t get what they wanted. Brilliant review though, really captures how amazing this set is. Very well done.

Yeah I know. I think a proper minifigure scale set is doable but not for retail. It would cost a fortune to buy and be too big for most houses. The great hall set in my opinion isn’t proper mini figure scale anyway. It’s far too small, and as I’ve said the proportions are wrong on the tower.

Hi, long time lurker here and I don’t post very often. I felt compelled to defend the d2c Hogwarts because I simply don’t get the dislike for it. Everybody has their own opinion of course I know that. This set is simply beautiful and extremely accurate to the actual castle and I think the insides are also very well done. I’m a Harry Potter fan, but understand to get a minifigure scale castle with the same elements and accuracy I reckon you’d be talking over £1000 easily, probably much more and it would be bigger than most homes could handle. You can see why they went the architecture route. I am biased because I love the lego architecture sets because the build is always fantastic (most important thing for me) such as Robie house which is one of my favourite lego sets. I’m halfway through this set and the build has just been great and it looks phenomenal. The stained glass is awesome. This could be my favourite lego set yet and the price is a steal compared to other licensed sets. I love minifigures as much as anyone and have the 22 Harry Potter/beasts ones and the ones from the 2010/11 sets such as diagon alley and if people want those they can buy them of course. I look at the system scale Hogwarts sets and for me I’m not impressed at all. Just my opinion. They aren’t very accurate in scale and for me aren’t really minifigure scale anyway far too small, although I like the Hogwarts Express. Attacks on the designer are so wrong just because people didn’t get a £2000 set for minifigures and are chucking their toys out their pram. I’m glad they went the way they did, we could have ended up with the messes that are the Disney castle (I’m a huge Disney fan and didn’t buy it) and cloud city!!! Don’t forget Justin is a huge potter fan himself and he obviously thought this was the best way to go. He’s clearly very proud of the set and let’s face it he’s done an incredible job
