Lego Technic 42008 Tow Truck Replica by dokludi
Pauger replied to dokludi's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingNice replica, looks good. You and a couple of selected members are not equal to "everybody". I thinks it's going to a good 2h. Both the tow truck and the crane is above average quality in my opinion.

"I may have to pay 360$ for the crane and still prioritize it, you who only need to pay 220$ should at least be able to prioritize it" is how I understood it. But whatever. My point is that even with the 360$ price tag, it's easier for people in Norway to prioritize it than for almost everybody else.

Please don't use the "everything is so expensive in Norway/Scandinavia" argument. It makes me embarrassed. Lego already has a very high cost for being a toy. Too much for many. Having said that though, the price has been kept down for the last 10-20 years, which is a good thing. Anybody got some figures?

You can see it on the stickers, the extension and winch are on different drive rings so you can use them both at the same time if there were two levers. We can't know if the speed is synced, but I assume the winch is faster (usually is), in which case it will work fine (I think the winch was faster in 8421(?)). If the winch and the hook works in opposite direction, you could simply turn the winch reel around.

8421 has a certain harmony to it with its short and compact style, and was good for the time. But in direct comparison to 42009 I don't understand how 8421 can even compare. It's uglier, has far worse space usage and complexity, worse stabilizers and less motorized functions (2 vs 5). The only thing which is better is the placement of the boom. It's disappointing to see it displaced to such an extent as in 42009. I would say: Manual = knob-operated Completely manual = no mechanism at all
