42030 - Volvo L350F Wheel Loader
Roeltjuh replied to AndroTech's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThen again, why would Volvo pay LEGO for this? It's not that a 12 year old boy will buy a Volvo frontloader when he's got his drivers license at 18, because 6 years before he had this one from LEGO..

Favorite Lego Technic sets ?
Roeltjuh replied to Legofan225's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI recently started buying sets again and from those I bought, the 8110 Unimog is absolutely the best. From a nostalgic point of view however, my favourite would be 8425 Black Hawk. I bought that one when I was about 10 years of age, paid with the pocket money I saved up for probably a whole year (or longer?). With mom to the toystore...well, you'll get it

Technic General Discussion
Roeltjuh replied to Jim's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI recently received the 8110 Unimog. First thing I noticed was the difference in wheels compared to the box illustrations and practically all images on the internet. The wheels that you see all around are these: http://www.brickset.com/parts/?part=4211845 What I got: http://www.brickset.com/parts/?part=6045310 On Brickset they are registered as a part of 8110, so apparently I'm not the only one. I don't really care about what wheels I have, but I'm just wondering why this is as it is. Production problems for example? Searching around here and there didn't give me an answer. To continue on this topic more broadly, are more sets delivered with other parts over time and why?

Hello! My name is Roel
Good day my fellow LEGO enthusiasts! At the age of 12 or 13 I became a big boy, and of course big boys don't play with LEGO . Now, 15 years later, being 27, I left what you apparently call the "dark age". Just a month or 2 ago I received my first new LEGO set in a long time, in my appartment in The Netherlands. As a child I always had the most fun with LEGO Technic. All the gears and axles and moving things were just great, so I thought, hey, let's start (over) the right way immediately and got myself the 42009 Mobile Crane MKII. Building it and finding out how everything worked (a lot stayed the same but also a lot has changed in the past 15 years) gave me the LEGO fever, so after these 2 months I also own the 9396 Helicopter, 42008 Service Truck, 31313 Mindstorms EV3 and the 8110 Unimog. For now that should be sufficient to keep myself busy for a while . The Mindstorms set, combined with the loads of parts from the other sets, has my special attention. Being a Java software developer I of course like programming, so what's better than combining that with LEGO? That said, I do like "industrial appliances" much better than e.g. cars and trucks, so I'll probably try building things like brick sorters, service robots and ball contraptions (akiyuky is my hero already). Well, now that you know me a little bit, I hope we can have a lot of fun together on these forums! Roel
