Bewildered Newbie. First Lego train set for kid?
60052, it's currently dirt cheap online (say jet dot com), just fine alone out of the box. if you like loosing your room to track...then 1 pack of straights/flex, and one of switches will make a nice loop and/or yard. After that...you'll know what to do :) FWIW, my five yr old likes the crane and the cow. Fair disclosure I have a lot of other train stuff--his absolute favorite is the spring-activated bucket from the new 60098 Heavy Haul train which we got parted out due to low appeal of that set overall (to me), and both kids were amazingly fond of the station...which is now adorned with a few educational Velociraptor statues on the roofline.

The situation is even stickier now with the bootleg 're-release' of Emerald Night. who wants to take the plunge?

10255 Assembly Square
Inverted corner means connecting pins on two adjacent sides where each pinned side is also the sidewalk side. That was the rumor-no? If that is ever pulled off...it would need one heck of a roofline. Can't say I've even seen an MOC tackle that challenge. I'm missing the whole inverted corner thing--it's angled and I could stretch to call it indented but is this even a corner? It's a 16x32 with pins left and an alley right. Very cool stuff, just leaves me wondering how terms get used and how an inverted corner hype-train gets started. On that note, assembly square feels like a misnomer. I figured, unrealistically in both cases, this could only be an accessory for joining buildings in a scene or the site of some Communist protest diorama.

10255 Assembly Square
For the XL, I'd like to see doubled back-to-back mirrored music store, cafe, bakery so that there's a lot of tall colorful interest, a great inviting facade, and an imposing castle-ish living space over the glassed-in lower. So...close to what's shown above, but don't mirror the whole set, just 1 building at a time.

[MOC] Ninja Parade
In person it likely looks great. For photography, having the ninjas on the same background color makes them hard to see, like a true ninja I'm sure...use of a neutral or contrasting background (the less busy the better) would make a more powerful photo.

Where's the other 3 pieces - the poky bag seems to show 29.

Doesn't the Chima Icebite mech already use a technique that will do this?

[MOC] Bauhaus Modular Building
Hi - very fun project. I like the look of the house and downloaded your .lxf to see what could be done about the wall gap. At first glance, I wasn't really sure what the problem could be with the gaps. Upon opening the file in LDD it quickly became clear what the situation is. The height to width ratio of bricks is 6:5, so you're either going to need more of your walls to be SNOT...or less. That part you're using - 6060 1x1x3-1/3rd arch - is "on the grid" when oriented horizontally. By attaching a brick to the bottom of it and then converting from THAT brick with SNOT back to regular building dimensions, you're offsetting the part by 0.2 brick widths. I like using Jon Craton's 'Unofficial Advanced Building Techniques Guide' terms. A stack of 7 bricks are 168 LDU, as are 8 bricks on their side + 1 plate. Your building uses a stack of 9 sideways bricks on the corner sections. I changed the height to 8, and tried to eliminate those buried parts transitions by placing sideways parts on top of a tile with no gap. This also makes the building 1 stud wider - which would be a cinch...except for the multiple flooring level on the first floor. You could make any number of design decisions. PM me and I can get you a copy of the alternate layout for the first floor.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Are you commenting on which theme(s) are sub 0.10/piece, saying this particular set doesn't offer a value relative to other comparably priced sets in the theme [arguably there are none], or that you'd like to purchase a few WalMart aisles-worth of these to see what a REAL discount looks like? This is rumored at $350/4600 pieces. That's 7.6 cents/piece. Go buy a box of basic blocks and you can DEMOLISH that ratio!! Heck the Town Hall was 7.2 cents/piece. I suppose a regression analysis would show you how far off the mean this set falls. In the absence of that...perhaps you just gotta buy a lot MORE LEGO - say multiple orders of magnitude more - before you actually start seeing a $/part drop. Expecting a different ratio of a $200 set vs a $350 set is like expecting $20 cash rebate for buying two TH or a free one with every purchase of 4. :). Good luck! The real speculation on price is how long they'll be in-stock and how quickly they'll get to 3x+ price...

75827 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters Discussion
I'd rather have any two modular buildings than one of these...and it so happens there's two I've yet to buy. I won't reach the end of my LEGO 'want list' and find this purchase staring me down. It just won't be happening. Heck, I struggle to think of howuch enthusiasm I could've had for a version of the HH at $350. And at that size, complexity it would stand out from other modulars in a bad way.
