WIP: 8x8 Trial Truck ( The colosos :-) )
yoraish replied to aposaric's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIf you want it to be a good trial truck you might consider again powering the remaining axle. So it would be a real 8x8

yoraish replied to Kit Fisto's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI'm actually building another Tatra right now, and it has the realistic- narrow wheelbase. If you like I can upload some WIP pictures of it.

Truck Trial Tatra T815
yoraish replied to Kit Fisto's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingOverall it looks very nice, but I got some spots for improvement: The angle of the wheels is too tight Try and make the wheelbase a bit narrower . But it looks pretty good for your firs truck! Can you upload a video?

Little Boy - Lego Technic Rock Crawler [MOC]
yoraish replied to yoraish's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingOK, you asked a lot, I'll try my best to answer all your questions. 1.In order to keep the battery box in place and not falling from the axles, you should placeTehnic bushes on top of the axles. 2. If it works fine, so better for you! 3.There are three ways to make the the wheels stop when reaching maximum turning radius: The first one is sensors from the NXT, Second is using a clutch gear- but that will also prevent the wheels from turning under stress. And the third option is to gear up the motor so it won't have enough power to break anything over there. 4.I can't determine what problem tou have there, a video or further explanation will be necessary. Godd luck with it!

torsion ideas?
yoraish replied to SNIPE's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIf I'm not wrong this truck is suspended with torsion suspension: P.s. Sariel's latest tanks are suspended with torsion (axles torsion).

Lego Trial Truck Basic
yoraish replied to snowman007_22's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI have some experience with 6x6 Tatra's and with 2 XL motors they run great. You can see them over at my YouTube I also have some instructions at my website. Good luck building. P.s. From your pictures your suspension is not a swinging half axles suspension- Tatra suspension, but a double wishbone suspension. If you need any help feel free to ask .

NXT Connectivity Question
yoraish replied to yoraish's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI'm sorry for your robot . I have some experience with NXTs and I know what you're talking about. I guess that for my use (controlling trucks) the NXT-NXT/Phone-NXT BT connection should work fine. Thanks for your great answer.

NXT Connectivity Question
yoraish replied to yoraish's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThanks for your responses! I have never heard that before. I am trying to use BT because I usually run my models outdoors, and the sunlight messes with the IR connections. The only way is to place the remote very close to the receivers. A really uncomfortable solution. And so far the delay you talked about didn't really bother me. So can you explain a bit more about that delay?

NXT Connectivity Question
As you know Bluetooth is way better than IR when talking about remote control. My target is to control a PF powered truck with bluetooth. My idea was to use the PF extension wire and the NXT converter cable to control PF motors directly from the NXT unit. Now my question is, will such an arrangement work properly and deliver the maximum power as possible? Or is there no other way but an HiTechnic IR sensor? Thanks for your help.

Little Boy - Lego Technic Rock Crawler [MOC]
yoraish replied to yoraish's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThank you very much DLuders! But can you added one PF switch to the PDF? Because it needs to be placed after one of the motors to change its direction, so the axels will go in the same direction.

Motor Comparison
yoraish replied to Burf2000's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThat's interesting! I read over at Philo's Lego 9V Technic Motors Compared Characteristics that the efficiency of the XL motor is better than the NXT motor. Does that mean that its all-over abilities are better? Would using the XL motor (let's sat in a Trial Truck) be better in the power and speed aspects? P.s. I saw that you wrote that the NXT motor is more powerful but this efficiency thing confuses me.
