[Review] 2014 AT-AT 75054
I was pretty suprised to see the little guy in my local Toymaster shop. I didn't think he was out until August. So here are my pictures: Firstly here is the box It gives the dimensions of Mr AT-AT as 34cm height 34cm wide. The box itself is 38x48x7cm so the AT-AT is about as tall and wide as the box. Inside the box are two instruction books and eight bags of parts plus a really cool double sided poster. It is quite a complex build with lots of fiddly 'technic' type pieces to support and allow movement of its component parts. Be prepared for sore fingers! The first part built is the internal body anatomy and the neck. It really doesn't look like anything much at this stage. The legs are next to be built and I built all four at the same time simultaneously rather than building one then starting over with the instructions again. The final part is the external body 'skin' and his head. The main body and top of the head opens. The minifigures sit inside. The legs can be bent simultaneously but it doesn't stand stable enough to lift one leg. There are two spring loaded bricks which hold the 'shooters' under the head. There are five minifigures with this set: I'm not convinced about the Snow Troopers 'skirts' they look a bit funny to me, especially from behind, but I guess it's hard to replicate the uniform. Maybe if they were plastic as opposed to fabric but perhaps it's harder to bend or manufacture. I didn't have the original (I got into Lego too late) so have nothing to compare him to but I've very happy with this set. As I've run out of shelving he may have to share the cat basket with Obi Bengal!

Fiat Panda 4x4
kdenty replied to piterx's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingMy 1st car was a red Fiat Panda. This is excellent. I want one! I would recommend deckchairs as back seats (that's what my Panda had!) The Simpsons set has good Lego deck chairs!

What Lego-related thing did you do today?
I Really enjoyed today, I've become a Lego related Ikea Hacker. Trip to Ikea followed by Hobbycraft, getting high glueing Lego to cardboard. Now have sexy picture frames for my Minifigure collection. Not reunited with my Minifigure collection till Monday as at my parents, can't wait. Just need a few hours to sort out what to put in them! Will probably realise they are wonky when I come down from the glue fix!!! Plus I might have ordered another set from Lego.com which I may have to hide from the boyfriend when it arrives!! "No darling I always had that set, it's just that you haven't noticed it before now"!

PAB Cups: What Did You Get?
I'm at my parents this weekend in Sheffield so hit the Lego shop in MeadowHell I got a free PAB box at Christmas to fill, and filled a large PAB cup (which was £1.99 after I used my VIP points). I'm off to Ikea tomorrow and I want to make Minifigure display with a RIBBA picture frame using Lego 2x8 and 2x4, so I filled both boxes with these bricks and used any spare space for a random assortment of small elements. The colours are a bit garish, it's just what I liked/fancied. I got: 36 2x8 in blue 36 2x8 in red 27 2x4 in black. Here is my haul.

How to clean your LEGO sets/parts?
Found the brush tip very useful. I found a soft 'blusher makeup' brush similar to horseshoe brush. It's perfect for gently dusting and gets in the bumps and indents really well to keep my Lego modulars dust free.

ObiVille - My Lego town
It's a 'guest bedroom' which has a sofabed, TV and some draws for storage. I've added shelving for my Lego and Lego lives in and on the draws. It's lovely to sit in there watching DVDs and making up Lego sets. It's small but cosy. He's an indoor only cat (being a bengal) so the only people who get to smell that are us! Maybe it's just that cats hang out in photographs (climb shelving/fit next to Lego displays) more than dogs will!

Which set should I buy?
If you like a build that goes up quickly and more straightforward but plenty of pieces town hall is great. But out of the building sets your right it has the least small/interior detail. If you want lots of interior detail and like small bits Parisian Restaurant is good. Pet shop is just cute and probably a good balance between the two and maybe a good place to start. If you like creator/Start Wars have a look at R2D2 he is very satisfying to build and is a great display piece also without taking up to much room.

ObiVille - My Lego town
Finally got some decent photographs of my town, ObiVille (named in honor of the true ruler of our house - Obi the Cat!) It's 'Standard' Lego build and lives on top of my two Ikea Malm draws in my 'Lego' room. I do have room for 2 more modules if I can find somewhere else to display my Death Star (which currently sits nicely in the corner taking up lots of room). And finally the great leader and Lego Chewer himself, Obi: You may notice in some picture 2x2 turquoise bricks - these are cat deterrents as they sit upside down with a few drops of Olbas oil in them which he wont go anywhere near! I coveted Pet Store for a long time but surprised myself when i finally got to a Lego store that I came home first with Palace Cinema. Then I got Pet Shop followed by Town Hall then Parisian Restaurant. I think Town Hall was the easiest and fastest to build as it is mostly building with less interior detail. Parisian Restaurant made my fingers ache and probably put my blood pressure up with the tension of building it right as it had so many smaller components. I think my favorite alternates between Pet Store (which just makes me smile with it's cuteness) and Parisian Restaurant (whose colours i love the most) I think the pictures came out really well today. It was a really dark dull day and the household energy saving bulbs make photos look yellow. I was taking photos with my Daylight/Sad lamp above my head (which is about 30x40cm and not lightweight) - my boyfriend thinks I've gone nuts!
