  2. I am a hobbyist. I play with my Legos. Coming out from my dark age only late last year, I bought some legos from the secondary market (ebay/gumtree etc). Without the secondary market, I won't be able to get those sets and pieces from the retail shops or Lego store. But I don't buy at inflated price from those obvious Lego investors - the Australian RRP is already inflated!! I don't have those sets like Cafe Corner, Green Grocer, Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower, Carroussel, Ucs Falcon, etc. I will never buy one of them at the current price level just because they look so good. I am a strong believer that Lego will improve and make better sets/parts in the future - so why look back? If I miss out on a few sets, so be it. I just wait for the next one. Maybe there will be another ledendary set which going up 10+ the RRP in time. I am not taking my bet on it. As to those people snap 10+ boxes and flip them on ebay/BB for quick profit, I don't like that either. But as long as there are impatient buyer out there, they won't be out of business. There are plenty oppotunitists in this world (not limited to Lego). I sell Lego on ebay from time to time too for stuff I don't want but coming in a bulk buy - Lego is a very expensive hobby and I have to recoup some money if I can. After through the pain of listing, answering questions and arranging postage, then the deductiion of ebay and paypal fees, I seriously don't think it is worth a while to make "money" from Lego as a business. So my conclusion: forget investment, let's sit back and just play!
  3. I like that idea - but I have to admit I belong to the stud down club.
  4. I picked up three road plates (7280 Straight & Crossroad Plates) when Myer has 3 for 2 sales so they worked out as AU$10 per pack.

Always start from the modulars currently on the market. I started with the Pet Shop as it can be separated into two buildings. You can consider cheaper version of lego houses in the creator line if you don't need detailed interiors. You also need some road plates for the city layout.
  6. Personally I find PDF instructions showing on a ipad work better for me. So maybe one day we don't have the printed booklets at all in the future? For sure there are lots of instruction lovers out there - don't get me wrong, I love them too. But what I enjoy the most is with the bricks, not the instruction booklets. I have to agree with you on that. That's why I only buy the sets when they are on sale. It is painful to wait for it but with limited budget, we have to compromise.

Want to see the details inside!
  8. So cool! I thought the movie used computer intead of actual bricks. But it is really nice to see someone turns them into the real bricks!
  9. no matter where they actually belong to, they are lovely characters!
  10. I think I need one of this for my petrol station - it will run empty without a petrol tanker
  11. MY suggestion (based on my experiences): - if you want a building with no interiors, buy the creator houses - if you want a building with interiors, have to buy modulars I started with Family House 31012, added with others (such as Apple tree house and log cabin). But I got over them very quick as they don't have enough details. If you are after doors and windows, depending on the style, I suggest you take a look at the Friend sets as some of them offer great windows and doors. I just bought a juice bar for my MOC (maybe a cafe) because of the big clear windows
