  1. I just picked up Battle on Takodana for £35 at my local TRU. I am so glad I didn't spend £50 on this set, it's terrible! Mini figs aside, the set is boring and incomplete in my opinion. I built it inside 45 minutes and the 'play features' didn't even entertain the kids for long...
  2. Brilliant MOC that, well done! really like the re-worked freeze chamber and the way it leads up to the Luke / Vader duel

Like others, I have been waiting for official pics of this set ever since the infamous video that appeared to reveal the upcoming 'UCS' Hoth set. Foolishly, I thought that after that video received such a bad reaction, TLG had gone back and re-designed this set which is why there was a huge delay in it being released. Unfortunately, i was wrong. They simply delayed releasing what was shown in the Video last year. The annoying thing for me is that I LOVE Hoth and I will definitely buy this set. I just wont enjoy parting with £200 for a handful of new figures and miniature Shield generators and Ion Cannon. Damn you Lego!!
  4. WOW! that is a huge collection. Do you have every star wars figure ever? I would like to see some more pics if possible please?
  5. You need to create yourself a list of what, or rather who you want in your collection, then find out the easiest/cheapest way to get them. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy a complete set because of the number of figures you get, and the extra bonus of the set that comes with it. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy the figures separately. The key thing here is to do your research and find out what each character will cost you. I usually stick to Bricklink and ebay for the valuations. Once you know the rough cost of each figure you want to add to your collection, the fun starts with the task of getting that figure for the price. As advised you can get some figures cheaper by buying the set the come in, and selling the rest of the set and figures you don't want. I have managed to get a couple of 'free' figures this way. Another good tip is to search ebay for collections of minigifs that contain some figures you want. Work out what your wanted people cost, then how much you can make by selling the rest back on ebay. Again I have managed to get a lot of figures for much less than you would pay for them by buying the set, or the individual figure on Bricklink. Know what you want, set a price limit for each figure, then go hunting good luck!
  6. Does anyone know if the VIP early access in Feb is the UCS Hoth?
  7. That would be amazing to include a chrome figure in the Advent Calendar! just cant see it happening though. Like the sound of the Hoth Chewie and there will hopefully be some good army building TFA guys in there too. Look forward to this one, again!
  8. Thanks for the comments. I will keep updating with pics of progress as my Bricklink orders arrive
  9. Finally decided to create some displays with my minifigs. I am creating one huge display that will contain over 200 figures from the first 6 star wars films. I have started this and got as far as the first 50+ characters from Episode 4 and Episode 5, including a couple of customs. This is how it looks so far: 20160127_103931 by Andy Riley, on Flickr I then decided I needed something else to display my 'other' figures. I started out with collecting Boba & Jango figures, then different versions of stormies too. Every year I buy the advent calendar so i thought I would throw in the Christmas characters too. I will also include my collection of poly bag figs on the top row which is a WIP at the moment. I have only opened the bags where I have two of the same figure for now. I will look to source a second version of the others so they can join the display too: 20160127_104000 by Andy Riley, on Flickr 20160127_104449 by Andy Riley, on Flickr 20160127_104454 by Andy Riley, on Flickr 20160127_104507 by Andy Riley, on Flickr 20160127_104518 by Andy Riley, on Flickr 20160127_104530 by Andy Riley, on Flickr 20160127_104100 by Andy Riley, on Flickr 20160127_104108_001 by Andy Riley, on Flickr 20160127_104119 by Andy Riley, on Flickr Let me know what you think.
  10. For twenty quid it's a no brainer for me ;-) I have the UCS Slave 1 and a few other Boba figs. This one is still a nice edition and I am glad it isn't the same as the UCS version. You also get the UCS version of Han with the new face and another frozen Han. The Ugnaught is fantastic! and for now, only appears in this set :-) The build itself is OK and the play features are a bit cack. It isn't true to the film, agreed. This is Lego though so you can use the elements to build your own. Good mix of oranges in there too. I think it works as a kid's play set (my 2 year old has fun with it) and its a good starting point for a proper MOC if you want to build one. With the figures and the aesthetics, it also works as a good little display piece. For the same price as Rey's speeder, this is a much better all round set in my opinion.
  11. That just doesn't ever happen in the UK! My local TRU wouldn't let me buy more than 1 at the full price of £4.99
  12. /\ THIS! I check this thread regularly in hope that someone has found leaked pics of the UCS Echo base. Instead I end up endlessly scrolling through an argument about the colour of the MF? So, Echo base anyone????
  13. I'm sure someone has already confirmed that the 2016 Hoth Attack set is almost identical to the Battle of Hoth set we have already had. I seriously doubt a 2015 release for the UCS version now
  14. Whilst I agree with your thoughts, I know I will still buy this set (if it is actually released) because its Hoth, and hopefully will have some new characters. I am hoping it has just been delayed and we will still see something this year, even if it isn't what most AFOLs are waiting for....
